Seems pretty clear for Winnipeg to price it extremely high for in conference teams. Weren't there rumblings they wanted to send him east?

Basically Kane would have netted Hunter Smith, Poirier, a 1st and Glencross. It's alot, but for a potential 40 goal scoring power winger. I think it would have been worth it.

No, a struggling Bogosian returned a struggling Myers. Kane returned Stafford, a couple prospects and a first

These are my thoughts exactly...
That, or Winnipeg management is hilariously delusional in their projection of Armia's and Lemieux's potential.

What would they have gotten from a western team that was better?

Nothing.
But I think their intent was probably to set the price so prohibitively that it practically ensured a trade out-of-conference. It's not a bad idea. I suppose there is always the chance that they somehow could have miraculously ended up with the kind of value they attempted to extract from Calgary.
...that said, I still like to think that the Jets believe Armia and Lemieux are comparable pieces to Monahan and Bennett. It's more funny that way.

This is an outrage. His uncle, the legendary hotdog magnate, went through the same thing. You know, Oscar Myers...
On topic: I think Myers was a nice part of the trade. Hope he shows what he's really capable of in a new town.

really good analysis of what the Flames would have offered.
Bogosian is putting together a Bouwmeester sort of career with exactly 5 career playoff games in juniors.
Myers has been a great playoff performer ... the best player on the Rockets (better than Benn and Backlund) on the 2009 team that played for the Memorial cup.
Myers was able to make Butler look like an NHL player.
So I think the Flames would have had to kick in a wee bit more.

Kane isn't going to score 40. Elite wingers hit their peak by now. He's 24. It's not like he's gonna hit 40 suddenly after averaging less than 30 (unless he gets McDavid, but there's little chance of that).

Probably never. Never has Never will. Most is around 30 in one season. The rest of his seasons he hasnt cracked 20.

I wonder if he realizes that only 2 wingers scored over 40 last year (Ovie and Perry). The good Kane scored 29 (in 69 games).

Seriously? You work in a dig at Bouwmeester in a thread that has nothing to do with him? You are honestly at 'Where are you Chris O'Sullivan' levels of neurotic obsession.

Understanding Evander Kane: The former Vancouver Giant has always been wired differently
He’s never been one for convention. During the May 2007 Memorial Cup run, one day at practice the 15-year-old Kane punched 19-year-old teammate Brendan Mikkelson in the mouth after Mikkelson, a defenceman already drafted by the Anaheim Ducks, half-heartedly slashed Kane in the hands during a one-on-one drill. Hockey teams are rife with class systems, and underage call-ups don’t routinely show up veterans.
...
You did hear stories about his grubbing for points. Teammates during Kane’s time in Vancouver talked about how one of them would score, and Kane would start shouting, “No. 9 passed it to him, No. 9 passed to him,” in a bid to get the referee to award him with an assist. Had he always made that pass? Not exactly. But you get the idea.
Another story made the rounds about Kane texting a team official during a post-game meal, asking him to go over the game tape to see if Kane should have been awarded an assist. Vancouver had lost that game, Hay got wind of what was going on and was none too pleased.
Is there a selfishness to all this? Certainly. Don’t be confused, though. Kane understands that team success furthers personal success. If you know him at all, you get that missing the playoffs for all those years in Atlanta and Winnipeg irks him beyond belief.

Lol? He hasn't hit 30 and he's basically 24. Name me the last 40 goal scorer that had only beat 20 once by 24. Hint: you'll be looking a long time
