Same, never had any of my cats fight each other because of another cat.
The important thing to remember here is that it's not the animals fault. I'd recommend llwhiteoutll advice. Bring the cat to the humane society eventually having to pick it up and pay a fine will become enough of a hassle that the owner will keep it indoors or find another owner who lives somewhere else.

I don't think bylaw services will loan you a trap in the winter - they don't want a cat trapped in a cage waiting for you to check it in potentially sub-zero temperatures.

We've seen a cat wandering along the fences hunting for mice. I don't mind it. Saw it once with a mouse in its mouth, and once, a little more disgusting, deposited half a mouse corpse on our deck. I see mouse catching as a valuable service.

In the 1980s Dad invented an electric trap on our fence to stop cats from going after his bird houses. He took it down after he heard the first cat howl.

I've had cats my whole life too and this is the first time something like this has happened. We figure it's because the one who kicked the others ass was an abandoned stray. So he probably had his fair share of cat fights and now every time he sees a strange cat his aggression level goes up. If sucks because the rest of the time, he's literally the sweetest more mild mannered cat I've ever had. So easy going.
We'll try contacting the Humane Society to see if they'll lend us a trap. I know it's not the other cats fault, but I guess it has to be done.

...I'm sure they're fine.
I'd gotten tired of my garden and backyard being pissed and #### on, by these disgusting animals. So were my neighbours. I called the city on many occasions. They sent people put, but could never catch them. So I brought out the muskrat traps I use up on the farm and put some cat food inside. Caught them in less than a day.
Sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands.
I love cats. Just not the disgusting stray ones that destroy property and cause issues with in-house pets.

You love cats? Are you kidding me? A) it's totally illegal to abandon animals in the country. You've just admitted to a criminal code of Canada violation. B) why the hell wouldn't you just take them to the shelter where they could at least be euthanized humanely if not cared for and adopted. C) You love cats? Then why do you promote their suffering? Disgusting.

You should trap them and start a cat fight club.

Or dogs. They're by far the larger problem.

The cats are most likely coyote food.

I have honestly never witnessed a cat getting into garbage.
Dogs, raccoons, bears, coyotes, magpies, ravens, seagulls, skunks.... but I have never seen or really heard of a cat doing it. Not saying it doesn't happen, but it just seems weird to me.
