yeah, the King's purple retros are glorious. The yellows tonight were ugly imo.

Saw them live that night. Still strongly disagree.

I like the current Flames jersey. Yes even the black
Am I really in the minority on that?

The day I saw our current jerseys with the flags on the shoulders Ive been waiting for the day, they changed to a new jersey. Rather have the retros then the abortions they wear now,. The Flames only wore those classic 2003-2004 jerseys for a couple years, what a joke.

Bring back the 2004 design, they were perfect. Don't lose the black!

I liked the Kings retro gold...but yes their retro purple is 10x better.....I so hate the 90's trend of putting black into every jersey....why the Flames ever did it is beyond me...I guess it's a generational thing.

"Boy, I really wish we could bring back the 80s" was just about the last thing I was thinking after seeing the abomination the Kings wore. I actually turned the TV off and listened to the radio because those sweaters were such an assault on the eyes.

I have a feeling next season we'll see something different for our primary set. Since our current third jersey is the same colour scheme as our home jersey, I have a feeling we'll see something different for our new uniforms (ie no black)

I am sorry, I have to disagree.

When I started to love the Flames there was no black.

I don't want not, nor to I need black in the Flames jersey.

See I don't think anyone hates the colour black because it's black. One of the basic principles of good colour design is you need a primary colour and at most two accents. Once you start adding a fourth or fifth colour, the colour scheme loses focus and becomes unattractive. This works for not only sports uniforms, but fashion design, interior decorating, company logos, website design, etc.

For example, go to any half decent store in Chinook and pick out a dress shirt. It will generally have two colours and at most 3. Let's say you like a red shirt with a blue and white pattern, the sales rep there will probably tell you to match it with blue pants, since black, grey or brown would make your outfit look too busy. Same goes for furniture stores. Go into a furniture store and you'll probably see all the living room displays have 3 colours at most.

Back to the Flames uniform, using these principles, if red is going to be the team's primary colour and white is pretty much required to be on all NHL uniforms, the remaining accent colour should be either black or yellow. While a red white and black uniform looks good, it's far too common, so replacing that with yellow gives the team a unique identity.

It's not about reliving the glory years of the 80's, it's about good colour design.

I can't tell which posts are sarcastic and which aren't. Are people thanking posts because they are funny? Are they thanking them because they agree? *confused*

I was at the Hockey Hall of Fame yesterday. They have a display with each team's current jersey. The Calgary jersey is quite unremarkable. The black has had it's day. I'd love to see a jersey, retro or not, without any black in it.

The Flames should have just kept the original 2003-06 red jersey as the home or third jersey.
