Rome is awful, not just style, but his content, and he has no substance. I particularly remember an interview he had with Patrick Roy, he asked two scripted questions, cut him off and went to a commercial. Came back with one more ("how does it feel to be...bla, bla..) and then ended it.
If Boomer had guests like Patrick Roy he would do a lot better, the fact is the only thing that keeps Rome afloat is the financial resources that the US radio networks have.
He grew his show from a local AM broadcast in San Diego of all places to a Nationally syndicated program with over two million listeners and hundreds of affiliates. I think there's more keeping him afloat than "US radio network" money. Boomer doesn't get guests like Patrick Roy for a reason, it seems any good guest is either a sportsnet colleague or someone Warrener is tight with. I listened to the clip of the Sutter interview and it was good, but it's clear that Rhett is the better talent which is why 960 lets him come in pretty much whenever he wants, they're lucky to have him.

I have a feeling he is indeed moving on after a discussion I just had with someone who wouldn't necessarily know but could make a very educated guess.....I will be quite sad if it's true.
Mods please ban this guy for posting news/speculation I don't want to hear.
Tranny, I'm with you on the sad part. I really enjoy the morning show now, moreso than any other times since FAN 960 became into existance. I'm often late for work because I want to finish listening to the current segment so I'll sit and wait in my car for a commercial break.
I'll be really disappointed if he goes to TO. I even go back and listen to parts that I miss in the morning.
Hopefully someone else can back me on this but I swear within the last couple months Boomer talked about hypothetically taking a job in Toronto - they must have been talking about Walker - and Boomer was saying there is more to life then getting a gig in the "big city". That family, friends, being happy with your current job, etc. would be big factors for him. Anyone else remember that? It was only a brief conversation but it did stick in my mind at the time.
Edit: And thinking about it, the fact he didn't bring it up today to shoot it down as a rumour makes me think he may at least be interviewing.
I'm only been listening to them daily for a couple months now, but I really enjoy their show. All the sarcasm cracks me up.
The only thing I wouldn't miss if Boom left is his lame "dad" music (by that I mean dad of a full grown adult). I picture him driving to work listening to Puff the Magic Dragon, like DeNiro in Meet the Parents.
I hope he gets it. seems like a good guy who works hard
that said I don't particularly like him, and if he goes I wont miss 20 minute segments on installing microwaves or whatever. I also recognize that preparing 4 hours of content every day is a job I could never do, but its real painful to listen to him sometimes
also the - they innnnnnn....you innnnnn? segment can only be described as "cringeworthy"
Actually while we're on it, can someone please explain the Niiiine reference? I find myself randomly saying it once in awhile, and I have no idea what it's even from.

Based on the banter between Rob and Elliott on the Big Show this afternoon, I think Boomer will be leaving. Elliott said he will have a lot of questions for Boomer during his segment tomorrow.
I was glad Mike Richards left. I am not glad Boomer is leaving.

Yeah...I think he announces tomorrow.....or I should say I wouldn't be surprised.

Kerr's Eklund reference (E5 thing) adds to the mystery. Might be a whole lotta nothing.

I used to think it was Walker who carried the show but then he went away and Pinder almost made you realize that Walker was fairly replaceable. So the constant has been Boomer and Warrenner and the show is arguably better than ever now. Once they started adding the artist of the day, his "whats that Boom" interviews with coach Huff, his Hirsch imitations he has been on top of his game for the last year or so. When you can taunt your boss like that and not feel threatened you know you are doing something right. As mentioned some of the funniest stuff has nothing to do with sports like him bringing out some of his old commercials of advertising Casinos in Saskatchewan. He has a very relatable sense of humor and great musical taste in my opinion. Good combo for any radio host/dj as he is truly like a classic dj. A throwback that will be hard to replace. On the other hand I was glad when Richards left.
I for one hope to jeebus he's gone. Between his whining when something annoys him, the long, rambling segments of pure nothingness, the horriawful music, the lack of any good mix of guests (they replay the same interview from one hour to the next), the cultural references all based 20 years ago (old Simpsons & Seinfeld quotes)...I can't believe this guy is a morning show guy in a market the size of Calgary. He is pure 'lowest common denominator' and I won't miss him one bit. Say what you will about Mike Richards, at least he created original content and put some obvious show prep in. The current morning show does nothing but coast through their shift and I find myself making sure my radio in my car is off at night so I don't mistakenly listen to the AM show unless I'm in a great mood and think I'm able to stand their rambling for a few minutes.

Love when some faceless Internet user criticizes an immensely successfully media personality from a place of zero creditibilty.
Well done.
