I like this deal for the Jets. Cheveldayoff did pretty well in a tough negotiating position based on what we know in the public. I think taking in a (seemingly) difficult personality in Kane is a big risk to a young, likely impressionable team trying to emerge with an identity.
My wife's cousin was also in training camp with Kane and I have heard some hilariously alarming stories about the guy. Seems like addition by subtraction for Winnipeg to a certain extent.

You can't win a trade when you give up both the best, and 2nd best piece in the deal. By that logic Buffalo wins the trade and it's not close. Kane is the most valuable piece, followed by Bogosian.

I have never agreed with this thought process.
Did Calgary lose when we traded Nieuwendyk to Dallas for Iginla?

Both teams won, Dallas probably doesn't win their one cup without Nieuwendyk in the lineup,

When I look at this trade I can see risks for both sides. Winnipeg is getting a player who has on ice issues that need to be addressed while Buffalo is getting a player with off ice issues.
Both teams obviously think they can address the issues and get the player back on track. The question to be asked is which issue carries the great risk of failure.

I seem to remember Philly having off ice issues with Carter and Richards who were then later traded. This could work out well for the Jets if they can get Myers playing the game he is capable.

Kane is the most valuable followed by Myers, then Bogosian.

I like this trade for the Jets, much less for the Sabres. If the Flames would have offered up anything close to what Buffalo offered I would be absolutely fuming. Cheveldayoff might not be such a bad GM when it comes to trading after all.

I think Winnipeg did well in the light of mitigating circumstances with Kane, but this is hardly what I would characterise as a big win. They moved two of the three best players in the deal, and the prospects they received in return are pretty underwhelming.

Pretty cool trade, high risk high reward for both teams. Makes a bit more sense for the Jets at first glance I suppose.

I think this is a good deal for both teams, particularly given their respective situations.
Winnipeg gets players who can walk into the locker room today and help the team out, as well as some insurance for the future: a 1st, Armia, Lemieux.
Buffalo gets worse immediately, but add two pieces which should help in the long run, both of whom are locked up until 2018 for Kane and 2020 for Bogosian. Having your top-four forwards being McEichel, Kane, Reinhart, and Ennis going forwards looks pretty attractive, and a back-end of Ristolainen, Zadorov, and Bogosian isn't too shabby either. Tyler Ennis is the oldest of that group at 25 years old.
I think this is a pretty good deal for both sides, but obviously there's risk for both teams.

There is nothing quite as pathetic as someone begging for validation on a message board.
Of course, in your sad little attempt to make yourself appear prescient, you masked the fact that you agreed at that time that (1) the Jets were not playoff bound and (2) that the Jets needed new management to succeed.

Hilarious that the Nucks are rumoured to be offering up Shinkaruk in any marquee deal they're working on. That tells you all you need to know about him...

Kane is most valuable by a long shot though, but he is a headcase and Winnipeg had to get rid of him. I think Winnipeg did decent because they were just looking to get rid of him and with his recent antics and injury they didn't do too poorly. Stafford is a plug though, decent player but nothing special and who knows if he'll re-sign. Also I'd say it's a toss up between Bogo and Myers, and I'm leaning towards Bogo, he's been more consistently good, both players are on the right side of 25. So Buf got two good talents that are both still young, Kane being the most talented player in the equation. Peg got one talent, Myers, who other than his rookie season hasn't looked that talented. No one can predict how Armia and the first is going to be. Although I think Myers will benefit from a solid blue line in the peg, I still think Buf wins this trade. If Kane gets his s#it together, then Buf runs away with it!

Not sure how credible but appears both mantha and Larkin were on the table for Myers.
I personally would have taken that package over the jets

If Kane continues to be a 20 goal scorer, I don't see how Buffalo can win this deal.
Would you trade a late 1st rounder, 2 good prospects, and a rental you're paying half salary on for a 20 goal guy? Hell no. A 20 goal scorer with massive attitude problems and a bum shoulder to boot.
Myers has a higher hockey IQ and ceiling than Bogosian.. in no way is bogo more valuable. Those 2 are a wash at best for Buffalo if not advantage Winnipeg.
All the Jets need to do now is move Ondrej Pavelec out and I can finally use the intense soccer fan gif I've been saving for his departure.
