I think it's safe to say he meant 'lockout.'

I must have re-watched that whole play 10 times and was amazed at how fast he caught up. Things like that make me appreciate what a player he is. It's also quite enjoyable watching teams try and play dump and chase against him... that usually lasts all of about a half period.

If you rearrange the letters in 'Giordano' and 'Brodie', it spells "Daring Bio Rodeo".
COINCIDENCE???

The play for me that got me excited was when poked the puck away from Galchenyuk. Lays on his stomach, Pokes the puck, gets up, picks up the puck before Galchenyuk knew what happened and then fires a backhand pass to Johnny in stride which led to the Granlund goal. TJ is crazy good.
Helps too having a coach that believes in you and keeps toting that you don't know how good you really are...

I missed the responses, got busy with life.
There were a lot of people who questioned Daryls decision that year, and certainly I was one of them. So no revisionist history here. It is more from people who claim that he hadn't shown enough at that point, or who claim that the his KHL time was crucial to his development.
Daryl did a port job at integrating youth into the lineup, and he almost lost Giordano because of it. He did many great things as GM, but this was nearly one of his many misses as well.

I think part of it was that he saw how bad things were over there and wanted to make it work in the NHL. Grass is greener type situation, so he came back really hungry to prove himself and stick in this league. The KHL sobered and matured him. Maybe we should send Sven there?

I guess it worked - Have not noticed Gio downing Shots of Vodka between shifts.

I just checked stats again this morning.
Gio leads the league with 44 points and is +17 and that was no surprise. I knew TJ's offensive production had dropped off a little from his high earlier last year but I wasn't prepared to see this:
1 TJ Brodie CGY D 54 8 24 32 +26

I think you're only looking at the Western +/- because Kucherov, Pacioretty, and Johnson are ahead of TJ.

Brodie impressed me over and over again last night. Such a high impact player. I can't believe he went from a 4th round pick to being compared to Scott Neidermeyer. Shouldn't forget our equally potent second pairing either, but yea, it's February and Mark and TJ are still looking elite.

Giordano's game seems to be slowing, but the pairing is still flying.
Gives more credibility to the argument that the pairing have emerged more as a result of Brodie than Giordano carrying things.

What was Giordano before Brodie arrived?
A decent to good defenseman always covering for his partner.
They both benefit without a doubt, but Brodie definitely allows Gio to go wherever he wants

Gio is no slouch either. Brodie is often up in the play as well and Gio is covering for him.
Brodie has a sick transitional game though.

I dunno - I think Gio is presently the better defenceman and for sure more well-rounded. Some of that is experience but I think Gio has to cover for Brodie more than vice versa. It's usually Gio in the corners. Brodie definitely tries more fancy plays, and he has been getting burned a bit. Risk/reward.
I notice he got the least PP time except for Engelland (who got zero) of all the defencemen. I suspect it's because this gets Diaz some more ice, and Brodie plays more PK.
