I don't know, but I like it. It gives it a sarcastic and condescending tone.

The other bit of irony is that botchford is a hack and mackenzie is great.

Jeff Carter is a talented guy who needed direction, to be shown the way,” one scout said. “Now he’s a different player on and off the ice, a real leader on that team. You wouldn’t have said that previously. I see real similarities between those guys.”

i read a story on TSN Go on my phone yesterday that suggested that the Flames are interested in Kane - I don't recall any mention of who the Flames would offer.
I think if the Flames could get Kane in exchange for Bennett than that kind of a trade would be justifyable; however, I'd assume that in the initial bids, the Jets will try and get a roster player and a prospect, and at this point the only roster player i might consider offering up is Glencross and to do that he would have to be resigned and be open to a trade to Wpg - so it would seem that the Falmes don't ahve the right mix of guys to make a trade as the flames would run the risk of upsetting the dressing room dynamics (assuming they are all good), by shipping out a roster player and bringing in someone like Kane
Of course trading for Kane assumes that he is ready to put on the big boy pants

Like many of you, I'm just wondering what a strong leadership group and change of scenery would do for this kid. I mean, c'mon, Giordano, Hudler, Wideman and Glencross is a far superior group of role models than he's ever been around.
As a side note, under the headline "The Injury," does anyone else think that anonymous former-NHL player-turned-team-employee might be Conroy? The guy sure talks a lot in that quote haha. I'm just speculating of course, but who knows.

Have been through a bunch of pages in this thread but not all 39 so please excuse me if something similar has been posted.
What about:
Glencross, and this years first & second to the Jets
Evander Kane to the caps
Madison Bowey & the caps first to the flames
Glencross has the NMC but he could easily be burried on the flames 3/4th line if everyone keeps contributing the way they are. He immediatly moves up into the jets top 2 lines which can help for his contract negotiations and salary.
The flames end up trading Glencross who I don't think is re signed at years end, swap firsts with the caps and essentially only give away their 2nd round pick for Bowey who was a 2nd round pick but based on what I have seen, would go in the first round if the draft were re done.

I'd want Winnipeg's 1st this year and next next if we are giving up Bennett. #### I can't believe I just wrote that. As insane as that compensation would be, it's even more insane that people are cool with the idea.
Bennett is the kind of kid you dream about drafting, like Moneyhands he is mature well beyond his years.
We'd be helping out a rival clean out the trash in the room. And we would be giving them a stud to build around for the next 12-15 years.
Barf! I hope Flames don't make this trade.

I really hope Kane ends up in Vancouver. It's a match made in heaven. That d-bag attitude will fight right in and it will be great watching him implode under the pressure there.
The best part is how many Canuck fans see all of his behaviour and character issues and are chomping at he bit to acquire him. Par for the course with that fan-base / franchise.

This is utterly insane. Are you sure that you would agree to trade Bennett for Kane or is that a typo?

IMO, Virtanen and a 1st would be a clear win for Winnipeg, so I would be happy to see it.
I think that is about as good as the Jets could hope for in return.

Kane entering the league is of similar value to Bennett
Bennett is currently much younger and has the attitude any team would die for
Kane + this years first for Bennett is still a bit of a stretch considering where that first will be.
Kane, Morrisey and this years first for Bennett would be a fair deal imo although it would suck to lose Bennett.

There is no way Calgary is trading Bennett. For Kane or anyone else..
They may have just drafted him but they have already invested alot in him and the optics of trading the highest ever draft pick in team history, when he looked like a solid NHLer as an 18 yr old in training camp, is horrendous.
Never going to happen.
Maybe a deal surrounding someone else will be offered by Treliving but Bennett, Monahan, Gaudreau, Brodie and Gio are this teams foundation so they are not going anywhere.

Or we could just stay away from hockey's Kanye West who would probably continue acting like a brat if his rights were only moved 2 provinces west.

Based on how I see it - Bennett is of much more value than Kane
The jets first this year could be a 15th overall which is right around the late end of 2nd tier first picks. Someone who may be a year or 2 from being NHL ready.
Kane and Morrisey are close but Morrisey isn't proven at the NHL level and although he is a great puck moving d man, some are concerned about his size.

Not really, that's my point. It would have to be something so stupid good you could never say no to it.
Even then I don't think I would make that trade based on all the press I have read on Bennett.
I've got doubts about Kane and how he might wreck this team's chemistry.
Flames do not need this right now, and they would be helping a rival get better through subtraction.
