They're asking a lot now. We'll see what they are willing to talk on March 2.

The Jets have botched this multiple ways for a few years now, and Kane is paying a bit of the price for that stubborness.
As mentioned in an earlier post, this perception he's a big problem in the room is because this has all come out, and its all come out because the Jets have taken their time in trying to fix an unfixable situation.

Other players (ala Carter) are traded first and then found out after that there may have been a attitude issue similar to what Kane has/had. But his name wasn't dragged through the mud as much because the team kept it out of the spotlight, and, the team dealt with the situation quickly to move on from the player.

In this case, the Jets trying to hold onto a guy that doesn't want to be there and has likely said as much for a couple years. And by not acting quicker, the situation gets worse, clearly, and it leaks out of the dressing room.

Only WAYCO would compare Backlund's character unfavourably to Evander Kane.

Don't need the distraction and drama. As far as I'm concerned, Kane has zero, if not negative, value.
Some team will be stupid enough to give a roster player, B prospect and a 1st though.

Cheveldayoff has nothing to do with this. This is what Bob McKenzie thinks Kane's value is.

Or even, to clarify a bit further - what McKenzie thinks the jets would be asking for from the Flames for Kane right now (moreso than what is actual value might be).

There will be takers for Kane this summer. The Flames won't be one of them.

I don't see how ego is even an issue.

Having a big ego is fine, but it has to be healthy. People with big egos can still respect the people around them.

Maybe if he did, his bill would at least get paid.

Doubt it was the same guys - the first time was his rookie year in Atlanta. Not too many leftovers from then. This time wasn't it Buf?

Virtanen and a first would probably be near the top end of what Winnipeg could hope to get too. They won't get Horvat, another good prospect and a first.
