He's suppose to be a leader on the team and trying to get a reaction out of Kane was not the way to handle the situation and will likely end up costing the team. How Kane is with his next team will probably be our best indication .
Jesus Christ. You post THAT right after mocking someone else with "I didn't realize a Winnipeg Jet posted here but thanks for your insider info"? Really, dude?

Ok, Hackey. Man up. Tell us how you know FOR A FACT that that was Byfuglien's intention. You seem convinced that you are smarter than everyone else here, so lets see you back it up.

Bob McKenzie article on TSN today.

http://www.tsn.ca/conventional-vs-ka...isdom-1.203159

Not a fan of Kane for his ego and attitude, although I'm not opposed to offering a guy a second chance if the price was low. Not a chance in h3ll if they want Bennett.

Winnipeg would undoubtedly want Calgary's top prospect, Sam Bennett, and that's not anything the Flames would be prepared to do. Maybe there's a Plan B there to work a deal for Kane; maybe there's not.

The TSN local broadcast of last night's Jets game said Cheveldayoff was telling any team that called last summer that he wants a top calibre prospect and a first rounder. They said that asking price is unlikely to change soon.

So yeah, not interested at that price.

per Friedman on 960, Jets would rather send Kane to an Eastern conference team

Chevy will never get what he wants for Kane. The Flames would not part with Bennett for almost anything at this stage. He is one of the key building blocks and the Flames suffered through a tough year to get him. Not going to happen. The Vancouver proposal of Horvat, McCann and a first is too rich as well.

Kane has underperformed and has massive character flaws. Sorry Jets fans but be prepared to be underwhelmed when the trade does go down

The jets are going to get something like the Flames got in the dion trade. He isn't a fit there and long term they'll be better without him. Not to say Kane is a bad player, I think he just needs a change of scenery at this point and there is too much of a history with him and the jets. I think he'll do well on his next team and the jets will do better without him.

Friedman also mentioned Buffalo as a team that is interested and can help the Jets today. With 3 1st round picks this year, and some talent that can help now they make a decent trade partner.

Stafford + Blues or Isles 1st for Kane

GM is just doing his job. He isn't trading Kane until draft, so why not start out with wanting a high return. By the time Kane is traded, I can see the Jets receiving a late first and a good but not great prospect.

NO
Wait, you mean the Jets aren't willing to take Sven straight up for Kane?

Eugh. The mere notion of trading Bennett away leaves me with a nameless dread.

I could see the cost for the Flames minus Bennett/Gaudreau etc, would be close to something like Poirier, 1st, and maybe Hudler? I would think they would want help now in addition to some good assets. More reason for Calgary to put the phone down and walk away.

Stay the course, Brad. I like what you're doing so far.

buffalo has so many assets to get things rolling it's crazy. Since 2012 (past 3 drafts) the sabres have drafted:
5 x 1st rounders
7 x 2nd rounders

then this upcoming draft they have:
3 x 1st rounders
3 x 2nd rounders

That's before they go into this deadline where they are sure to add at least 1 high round pick for stewart, plus whoever else they ship out.

Unbelievable. Curious to see how the management approaches the rebuild (ie. do they go deathly slow and use all these picks and wait for them to develop over the next 2-5 years) or do they package some prospects picks to round our the roster and get competitive. They have the luxury to do the latter without really losing out on youth, given the sheer volume!

Kane isn't worth a top prospect. I've been quick to say that maybe his whole attitude problem is blown out of proportion and I would take a chance on him if I were calling the shots, but not a chance like that.

Move along. If that's the asking price he'll be wearing a Jets track suit for awhile.

Lol @ Bennett for Kane. Unless we're talking about Patrick Kane. And even then, I don't think it would make sense for either team.

That is the most ridiculous thing i have heard in a while. If this is how cheveldayoff values his players its no wonder he hasn't made a trade that has mattered in his tenure. I would do something like 2nd plus klimchuk for him but i think that is all i would do to many issues with Kane.

Fan base in Calgary would lose it if Kane lands with the flames unless the deal is completely one sided.

I think the main reason Cheveldayoff is asking for so much is because he really has no experience trading players and doesn't really know what value they hold. It's one of his first times he's had to consider this, lets cut him some slack lol.

Might as well ask, but every GM in the world know they have to trade him at some point so they'll keep low-balling him and he'll have to bite eventually.

The Jets have a ton of good prospects, but they also have a core that is going to be past its prime by the time they all are ready. They basically have one line and then a couple of pieces in Scheifele and Perrault.
