Keegan can use some fighting lessons.
The first one he got caught......it's a fight. It happens.

The second one, he's the only one that threw any punches and he still ended up on top. Don't see anything wrong with it.

Maybe you could offer him some?

Are you offering? Cause I would watch that.

Except Kanzig was not involved in the second match from that link.

The Stewart fight was a rematch from November

Yeah, Kanzig isn't as good at scrapping as you'd expect from a guy his size. But he's still better than most.

I'd rather he become a good d-man that can throw a good clean check and use his body to move players out of the crease. Screw fighting.

^that. When he joins the A next year I'd love to see him beside the more mobile, less physical guys i.e. Culkin/Kulak

Just because your a giant doesn't mean you can scrap, or your tough. It's just means your a giant.

No, but when you're a giant defenceman with professional hockey aspirations, who loves to hit, it's often a pretty good guess. Anyways, it's not something I'm terribly concerned about.

Lucky he didn't hurt his leg when he went down there.

While it remains a deeply flawed stat, it is interesting to note that Kanzig is +26 as a Hitman, which is third best on the team - and he played 20 less games in Calgary than the two players ahead of him. He was also +5 in Victoria in 21 games and would have been one of the higher ranked players on that team at the time.

It's all observational and subjective, but while I have noticed Kanzig takes too many roughing penalties, I am hard pressed to think of many instances where he was on the ice for a goal against - or at least, enough of a goat where I noticed - even though the team itself has not improved its defence at all since the trade.

The Hitmen were 12-7-3 (.614) with 3.63GPG and 2.91GAPG pre-trade
19-10-2 (.645) with 4.74GPG and 2.90GAPG since.

While there are a lot of very good players who have bad +/-, there arent many bad players who have a very good +/-.
