Could be just a motivation thing. More focus on beating divisional and conference rivals or something.

Better this way than the other way.

But let's face it, this team lost for the same issues it's had all season. Too many turnovers, zero possession. You need possession, you need shots on net.

Could have used the 2 points, glad we didn't give up 2 points vs a team we're fighting for a playoff spot with.

That #87 guy is really good at hockey.

Diaz on the PP is a joke. In fact the the whole damned PP was a joke tonight. No puck cycling in an effort to get shots from down low. Get the puck on the side, hold on to it for a few seconds or more then pass it back to the point. Too easy for the Pens to defend.

I would say our worst effort of the season.
Diaz was the only one that was Hitting the net on the pp. He had 4 shots on net alone in just one pp.

Wideman has a shot and Russell has some play making abilities. Diaz seemed to hesitate everytime he had the puck, wondering what he should do with it. Then again Hartley is probably looking for combinations to get the PP going.

Hartley has done wonders this year, but sticking with that power play line was bad, obviously bad. Get Monahan on the ice FFS.

Jones, Raymond, Diaz not guys I'd commit blind faith to run every power play...

Wideman's shot for the last two months just hits the side boards and ends up out of the zone. The guy's scored like one, maybe two goals the last two months, and it wasn't on a power play. He got off to a quick start early and he's fallen back down to earth.

Russell on the PP wasn't leading to anything. Since he's been taken off the PP, we've had 4 ppg in the last 6 games (and yet another that was a second after a PP ended).

I saw it as him being patient.

The real issue was the forwards. I don't know what, but this team's forwards have so much difficulty just holding on to the puck. The only ones that are any good at it are Colborne, Hudler and Gaudreau, and in Gaudreau's case he was still getting poke checked every time.

Why? The PP defensive units weren't working, so Hartley switched it up. Who would you rather, Russell? Who contributed just 5 special team points before being moved off the PP units, despite extensive time on them?

Plus you seem to forget Diaz scored v Winnipeg. You have to go back to the 9th January for the last time a defenceman scored on the PP.

Now, had you said Raymond, I'd agree with you. Despite his improved play of late, he has been given PP time in almost all of the games he has played for us this season and he has contributed 1 point. 1. Thats awful, especially when you consider Michael Ferland has the same total.

If I was the Pens i'd give him the shot all night. Nothing overpowering in his shot.

Powerful shots aren't what score on the best PPs. Weak, well-placed shots that get tipped in otherwise or deflected are. Nik Lidstrom was the master of the muffin pass from the point, and if you look at the Sharks' PP that's what Burns does too.

Wideman's blasts from the point are consistently the worst moment of every power play the last two months.

Why not put Gaudreau on the point. He has the ability to create plays and move the puck down low. Our PP seems to revolve around shots from the point and players scrambling for rebounds. Something needs to change.

Gaudreau's best behind the net, I want him there whenever possible.

The guy I'd like to see man the point is Sam Bennett.
