I know Malkin wears a pretty big visor, but if he's switched to a Popemobile, wouldn't that be kind of non-regulation?
On the plus side, he could fill the trunk with water and be the Zamboni between periods.

Exactly the reason why I declined to do fantasy hockey this year. I hate watching hockey but also kinda hoping a player on the other team scores. I find it much more enjoyable to just be 100% on board and cheering for the flames.

Don't want those stinky, sweaty pads rubbing up and down on a laceration.

And depending on the location, he may have to keep his stitches relatively immobile. If it is on an area with flex, he can't skate without risking tearing the stitches.

Was at a luncheon today that featured Peter Maher and an introduction from Brian Burke. He said that Jay Feaster deserves a lot of credit for the team's success and although the team is not yet a Brian Burke team, it soon will be. He says we're small, fast and skilled and they are looking to make the team big, fast and skilled.

Our best players are our smallest players...
Which small guy do they plan on replacing? Only one I can think of is Byron? Unless the plan is to replace the smaller key players, like Hudler and Glencross (if you can call him small) with bigger key players?
Those players usually cost more...

Yeah Byron is the obvious one....Hudler and Johnny are really the only other small forwards, and I can't see them going anywhere.

but wait... Byron plays big so they can't be talking about him... must be someone else they are referring to.

A big hulking defenceman would do a lot to make this into a Brian Burke team.

I doubt they were talking right now. Sounds more like something they want to achieve over time to contend for Cup.

OK well in that case, Wolf, Ferland, Smith, and Kanzig should help that cause.

Yes they will help but project to be bottom 6 and bottom pairing dmen , and that's if they make the NHL. Need to draft/ trade for bigger top 6 . I think Poirier makes a good case for that.

It's a fairly long shot, but Smith might turn into a top-6 forward.

Basically, bumping Cali'sFF 2nd line down a notch, which tosses the 4th line off the page, and installing a good sized second line would make this a solid team.
Bennett should be that centre by next year, so we really just need 2 wingers with size and scoring ability.
If you could trade the extra pieces and a pick for one of them, you might get the other as an overpayment FA.

Poirier looks like he could be one of the wingers for that line.
