I thought the Kings were about ready to get back in the race with that huge comeback win against Chicago a week ago. Then they got out on the road and got smoked in two straight games they desperately needed to win, with three more road games coming up. They are not who they used to be, they look like a defeated team. You would think that being third from the bottom in the west all of a sudden puts a pretty heavy burden on the team as well. There is still a chance they could catch fire I guess, but there are a lot of issues with that team as it sits right now.

- I don't find the Kings interesting in any way whatsoever.
- I do not care (or worry) whether they make the playoffs.

Every Kings fan over at HF giving up on the season. Hard to argue with them after that loss against the Panthers. It'll be hard to gather the strength to turn that ship around.

Best year for them to tank. Add a top 10 pick to a healthy year of Pearson and Toffoli and they should come back strong next year.

I think the combination of losing Voynov and Mitchell was just too much for the team to absorb. As Sharks fan, I couldn't be happier. I think they're out. Maybe they'll return to form next year, but there's always hope that SoCal falls into the ocean instead.
Could it be that we see CGY and SJ in the first round? That would be fun - these teams seem to play entertaining hockey together.

That's what I think too. They could be fast on the comebackup if they pick up a guy like Prokorov or Hanifin in the draft and Voynov returns and Mike Richards finds his game in the A. That would suck.

Whoops, I forgot the new rules don't kick in until 2016. With the 2016 rules, a 9th/10th place team would still have had a shot at 3rd.

Kings have played 64 playoff games over the last 3 seasons. They don't have a cup hangover, they are recovering from a severe cup bender.

I do, for one. Three reasons:
1. They're the defending champs. When the defending champs fall apart the following year, that's always an interesting story.
2. I still like Darryl Sutter and Robyn Regehr.
3. If the Kings miss the playoffs, the Flames won't have to play a series against them.

4. Makes another playoff spot available that just about everyone thought was spoken for by the Kings, which is good news for a team like the Flames trying to make the playoffs.

Kings would be wise to sell at the deadline aim for a top 10 pick in the drsft and reload for next year. Get what they can for Williams, Regehr, Stoll etc and they can bounce back

Sell that many players off at once, and they're not doing a reload but a full-on rebuild. Besides, I'm not sure how you're supposed to sell Darryl Sutter on the idea of aiming for a bottom-10 finish. Maybe they should fire a coach who is a two-time Stanley Cup winner because he refuses to lose enough?

If we're out, and LA is in the playoffs, I cheer for LA for reason (2)
Right now, I'm #3 and 4
I hope they keep sucking. And I hope that Evander Kane drama kills Winnipeg's record and team chemistry

They pick 10th overall if the draft happened today and calling moving those 3 pending UFA's a full on rebuild is laughable. They keep their core of Kopitar, Doughty, Quick, Carter, Muzzin, Martinez, Brown, Toffoli, Pearson etc
The team is in cap hell and trending away from the playoffs

Which is not the same as deliberately aiming for a bottom-10 finish.

It wasn't those three, it was ‘Williams, Regehr, Stoll, etc.’ It's the etc. that takes you overboard.

If you keep the core, you're not rebuilding.
But yeah, might not be a bad idea for the Kings to shake things up a bit.
...maybe we can get Regehr back for the playoffs?
