Well with that news no one will trade for Kane until the offseason.

And now a bum shoulder.
This reeks of taking his ball and going home.

Now look how it turned out...could be the same with Kane.

He's in his 6th season and has topped 45 pts ONCE! He is nowhere near a "franchise" level player.
He's not even a Jordan Eberle level player.

Jus' sayin. You wouldn't want any of those guys locked up for the next four years for 6 mil a year on the flames, would ya, even if they were younger? And none of those guys are headcases.
I want dynamic players, not just goal scoring wingers making that kind of money in a salary cap era.

His wet track suit needs surgery.

I think there's absolutely no question that his play justifies his contract. His on-ice ability should command that salary any day of the week.
I can't speak to any other issues regarding his "locker room presence", or professionalism, because I've never even met the kid, and could probably walk past him on the street without even recognizing him.
But on the ice he's a beast.

People get way too wrapped in guys being "cancers" when in reality like everywhere else in society there are personalities and in some situations they just don't mesh.
|
I don't see how the Jets leadership group forces him to act out the way he does, especially off the ice. Just like everywhere else in society, there are people that are just difficult to work with and you don't want around other employees.
The biggest thing for any team is to have people on it who have a genuine interest in seeing their colleagues succeed both personally and professionally. That interest isn't something that can be faked or forced. If someone is a jerk and other people on the team simply don't like him, it will affect the overall performance. As someone else mentioned, Kane's production is really nothing special, at least not enough to justify brining in a guy that has personality clashes going all the way back to junior.
People keep mentioning Sequin, but I don't recall other players disliking him. His clashes were with coaches and management. Same thing with Richards and Carter in Philly. The problem wasn't that they were not liked by their peers. Kane has the double whammy of being both a bad influence to the power structure and being unpopular.

It sounds like Evander Kane used shoulder surgery as leverage against the Jets. I have never seen something like this ...

Will anyone trade for him now given he's done until next season with this shoulder surgery? I mean, never mind the deadline - will anyone pursue him in the offseason?

Totally agree, the last one is a back breaker. Question is, how much is the risk that the change of scenery and a different coach, team mates is enough to fix it?

Might be best for the Jets as well. Keep him away from the team and the distraction will likely disappear.... until he gets bored and looks to twitter for more attention.

Who is Joshua Cooper? And why does his opinion matter? I understand the suspicion but don't feel it's safe to jump to that conclusion.

I don't see how he will ever be welcome back in that dressing room. I am 90% sure he played his last game for the Jets.
They really missed the boat trading him.

Firmly believe Kane has quit on the #NHLJets. Kane's been averaging 20 mins / night. Surgery could have been delayed. Was playing great

Why? They'll likely get more this off season anyways

They would have received more before all this drama began. That doesn't disappear in the offseason.
