Great, go ahead and take Kane. That ought to be entertaining. Sell the farm for him, you barely have a prospect pool.

And I'm also sure that none of Kane's teammates EVER talked to him prior to taking it to extremes....
The guy has had stories like this from days in Atlanta and all the way back to junior. At a certain point, words don't mean much.

Apples to oranges as ever situation is different. Kassain may have some attitude issues but it's likely nowhere near Kane's and it hasn't been simmering nearly as long. I would like to hear Henrik's speech if he was saddled with having to put up with Kassain for another three years like Jets players have with Kane.

Glencross, Hanowski, a second for Kane is my proposal for a Phaneufesque trade of a primadonna for spare parts. I still think hes young enough to turn it around.

Seguin's own father had said that Seguin liked the nightlife and the reported rumours of him having a guard to stop him from partying. Rumours existed long before that (and like Seguin's father said, he was a 19 or 20 year old kid).
I'm not suggesting they had to run him out of the locker room and get him away from the team at all costs. But it also wasn't 'strictly a salary cap' move either.
|
If there wasn't a salary cap Boston would not have traded Seguin, Chiarelli said as much. To me that's a salary cap move.
Winnipeg isn't even in salary cap trouble and they want to get rid of Kane.
I don't see the comparison.

I'm going to type that a different way.
He walked out on his team and didn't play in a important game because his team mates threw a track suit in the shower.
That makes Kane a quiter and a worthless team mate and player. I doubt that any GM is going to welcome someone like that into their locker room.
Kane is lucky that this is the age that it is. In the age of the strong leaders, like Howe, Lindsay, Richard, Bobby Clarke, Messier and Espo. That suit wouldn't have been soaked in water, it would have been soaked in blood, because you didn't mess with your team around those guys, and you didn't break the team rules around those guys.
Buf, while not perfect, tried to do a correction in a pretty harmless way.
Kane basically blew a spaz, over reacted and walked out on his team.
By rights, the Jets should have suspended the kid without pay and sent him home.
|
And just because it is "Accepted" doesn't make it right.
IMO actions like this and hazing are something that all professional sports need to take more seriously.
The NHL likes to promote and be a part of #RightToPlay but then in these locker rooms and during the game slurs like "homo" or "fag" are still accepted.
They also like to promote things like mental health awareness, but if somebody maybe takes offense to an action like this, or something that goes on in the change room and takes it personally they are a quitter or a #####.
Then they like to have athletes go to schools and say that bullying is bad, but accept actions like these that is clearly one person picking on another (whether he deserved it or not is irrelevant).
So if a kid at a middle school throws a kids clothes in the shower at a Winnipeg Middle School gym class tomorrow cause the kid broke a rule its fine because Byfuglien did it and he was praised as a great leader.
My point is that the action that was taken out here was bullying, and if we want the league to be serious as role models etc then we shouldn't be lauding that action as him being a great leader.
A real great leader and a good organization wouldn't have let it get to this point and it would have been handled in a much more professional manor.
Kane is at fault for being a ###### but Byfuglien is also at fault for his actions too, and the team is at fault for not punishing Kane themselves if he broke a rule and for letting it get to his point to start with.

that is my point though, it would be handled better
whether the blame is 90 Kane - 10 Rest of team or some other factor, the rest of the team is not handling it well either
they are young so its understandable, but to me it just seems like a bad fit, which is why I'd take a shot on a guy like that when his value is at it's lowest

Should have traded Kane long before it came to this. They were certainly aware of everything plus more the public's not aware of. Just bad management. Now their relatively successful season is in jeopardy of being ruined due to a huge distraction that should have been dealt with long ago.

This is 100% management's fault. Should have cut the cancer out before it had a chance to spread. It's not like they haven't had years to deal with this.

Don't want the Flames to get him for anything more than Raymond and a prospect like Reinhart, Hanowski, Agostino etc
Personally don't really want him on the team at all but the skill set, speed and size is enticing

you're going to seriously compare child bullying with professional hockey played by men.
Give me a break, you might as well compare apples to orangutangs.
Throwing a grown mans who's a multi millionaire getting paid to play a sport's track suit in the shower is hardly a self esteem killing soul destroying act of bullying.
Its sending a message.
Its not bullying.
If Evander Kane is sooo darn fragile that this one event makes him walk out of his team, then so be, he isn't worth having around.
I actually think its pretty disgraceful that you're comparing the two.
