Believe it or not, the CBA mandates the dress code for the players. But man... sending that message to your best player when your playoff hopes are fading is tough.

I think we can be pretty sure it wasn't just the dress code.

Kane was also late in addition to the dress code violation. Jets might feel the need to remove him from the team as it will be an addition by subtraction.
A lot of teams will have interest but doubtful the Flames are one of those teams which is fine by me. I would love to have a player of his skill set in our top 6 but the character issues are very worrisome.

by what measure? he is cuirrently 9th in team scoring. and granted it was one game, but the EK that played at the dome on monday was ok - as i recall he had one strong shift and had a partial breakaway - but i also seem to recall him not being strong on the puck in the third period and being checked from behind.
sure he is only 22/23; however, he had been in the league long enough to understand the dress code and you don't roll into the rink dressed like you are out for an afternoon at west edmonton mall (assuming the tweet is correct).
to me he seems like a guy with a ton of talent; but, is boderline uncoachable - but that is my impression

Listening to Boomer and Pinder this morning I get the impression there is a lot of non-public incidents/rumors that would keep most teams away from Kane. Sounds really bad.

^ Kane is only 9th because he missed 20 games. Though he'd be only 5th right now on PPG. But we are talking about a guy who can score 30 and provide dynamic offence. The Jets need that, more now than ever.

I saw speculation that he was late as well. That would, of course, be a good explanation for the clothes he wore.

Dress code is what they are able to suspend for, but there's been rumour and innuendo about lots of other things going on. If this was the first offense I'll eat my hat

People get paid a lot of money to manage these sorts of egos. Those people have to respect the talent and find a way that makes it work.
Until the full details are disclosed, all I see are the public interactions and seems like Jets have always had a bee in their bonnet about this guy's loud personality. Everything else is baseless until a media guy grabs a pair of balls and says what is really on their mind - which they can't do because its all just baseless gossip (like Iggy fought Dion).
If it's this far off the rails that is a failure of management.

Yes. It's management's fault if Kane acts like a jerk. No responsibility here for the guy who clearly is in the wrong here

And players get paid even more to...you know....be professionals.
Horrible take.

The article I linked also suggests Kane has been playing with an injury, and he could throw that back at the Jets.
If he’s miffed, and decides he’d like to swat back at the organization, Kane does have a card to play. He can elect to shut it down and have surgery on an undisclosed injury.
Kane has been playing with this injury for much of this season and could the force the decision to have it repaired.
If Kane or the Jets announce in the coming days he’s going under the knife, it will be evident the player and team are at odds. Surgery has been an option Kane has elected to forego to this point. He’s played with pain and been effective. Up until now, the expectation was he would conclude the season and have this ailment taken care of in the off-season.

When did he get suspended? He was only scratched for one game.

It doesnt even matter. Showing up in a track suit is a clear violation of policy in a manner where there is ZERO ambiguity.
If you dont adhere to the dress code you get suspended. He didnt adhere to the dress code. You have to suspend him.
So what can management do? If they choose not to enforce the policy and not suspend him then the whole thing just goes straight to hell.

Guy seems like an ass to me. I have no issue with the Jets sitting him for a game for violating team rules. If you don't, the implication is that those same rules don't apply to him so why should anyone on the team abide by any rules?
If he wants to go pout now, whatever - the TEAM will be better without primadonna asshats on it.

The Jets look to have some very promising prospects so IMO they would be best to cut bait with Kane even if they are selling low as it's pretty clear he's become a distraction to the team and that this is simply a marriage that was never going to work.

Who said he has no responsibility? You have all the facts and know he is in the wrong? How?

Everyone has an opinion, but you really don't have any facts to support it other than some immature stuff he posted a few years ago.
Reality is talented people always get diffrenet rules. And good managers know how to get prima donnas to do their jobs. Kane is a talent that isn't doing his job. Getting rid of that talent, when he has low value is a failure of management:
1. They are unable to get him properly focused.
2. When he was focused and worth more, knowing what the *allegedly* know they did not trade him, and are now in file sale mode for this particular talent.
