Default Small Function Downtown Calgary

Hey guys,

I am looking to organize a small function for 15-20 people. We want to watch the game in a semi-private or private area, have dinner or appetizers and a few drinks.
Nothing super fancy but I don't want to go to Moxie's either. The crowd will be Calgary office workers so something trendy would probably be appreciated.

Downtown is probably easiest for access. Everyone works on 3rd Ave but I am sure they can hoof it over to Stephen Ave or a bit further.

Thanks for the help

Milestones on Stephen Ave might be a good idea or Flames Central (assuming you are watching the Flames game). There is also James Joyce which is an irish pub. All on Stephen Ave and not crazy busy

The Bank and Baron pub has private rooms (or at least one) on Stephen Ave. I really like the renovations in there.

One of the Nationals has party rooms you can book...but I believe their minimum to book those is stupid high.

I remember we did something like this a few years ago at Redwater in downtown. Now that it has changed names to Township and been renovated, I'm not sure what the setup is like. I can't imagine they would get rid of their private room, so it might be worth a look. It's also a lot closer to 3rd Ave than Stephen Avenue is.

The food was like an upscale version of what you would get at Joey's or Moxie's so it was pretty decent back then. Considering Township is now that group's higher end offering, I can't imagine the quality has gotten worse.

Yeah, the completely closed off private room is gone and now there's just an slightly separated space, no doors, just a couple of trellis-type decorations, nothing to block the noise from the rest of the dining room. My department had their Christmas party there this year and I wasn't impressed - it was so loud in there you nearly had to yell at your tablemates for them to hear you.

I think we are going to try for the National.
I walked past Township the other day and it looked nice but I don't recall seeing TVs. Does anyone know otherwise?

The upstairs at The Barley Mill. I don't know if they would book off the entire upstairs for only 15 to 20 people though. They do have a smaller, semi private room upstairs in the NW corner which could probably accommodate 15 to 20. Not really a trendy choice though.

What about Craft Beer Market? It's not too far & they have the best beer menu in the city (if you ask me) and great food.

Libertine on Stephen Ave has a second level that can be booked. The second floor overlooks the avenue and is a spot that I've been interested in booking myself.

Bookers has a private room upstairs, booked it for my birthday a couple of years ago and it was awesome, they even assigned us our own waitress who only catered to the room. I had twenty people and they did a great job.

If this picture is still accurate, it looks like there is a projector in the upper section of Libertine.

Ditto. I'd highly recommend it.

I have been told externally that Local 522 would be a good place.

A bit lower cost which sends the right message but still has good food/beer and TVs. No private room but we would rope off an area and it is a Wednesday so it shouldn't be too packed.

If I'm thinking of the correct location, it's a really good spot. However, it usually gets packed quickly after work. It could have been the days I went though.
