Happy that Russell got a goal finally after blocking so many. Even moreso than bollig and diaz. Really good to see

8-2 in their last 10.

12-5-0 since the 8 game losing streak.

First time back to 9 games above .500 since before the 8 game losing streak.

15-4-1 vs the divison

Just need to claim some victories from eastern opponents. First up: Pittsburgh.

Great Game, finally came out first!

That said, hope Hartley bag skates everyone for all the missed chances on the empty net.

People wanting to elevate Bouma and Byron....go watch that final 2 minutes again.

Until tomorrow when San Jose plays Vancouver and the flames will be in third or a wild card spot.

Also was a fun game to be at. People were sure soaking up the 3-0 lead after 2. That just didn't happen vs the Sharks in recent years. Even in the third when we were playing lockdown, everyone was smiling and enjoying themselves.

Extend this streak another few games and we'll only have to play the rest out at .500 to make the dance.

Just 30 games left of the regular season and we have a fighting chance at a playoff spot, hoot.

Not had chance to watch the game yet but any win is a good win

It amuses me that Edmonton has the least number of wins in the league. Even if they doubled their wins we would still have more than them.

Fantastic game. Flames are continually showing they can skate with anyone.

Backlund.. Backlund.. Who is this guy now? Going around agitating Burns, Thornton and just about anyone else he was matched up with tonight. Kid just bleeds red. I have seen him get gritty at times - even had that fight - but he was really agitating out there tonight. I thought he was very effective out there tonight. 61% on the dot too - he is quietly developing still.

Feel great for Russel tonight. You smile that big when ending a drought. Hopefully they start coming in bunches for him.

Disagree, when teammates play for each other a team expected to draft first can make the playoffs. That mentality of elevating ones teammates is exactly why we are in a playoff spot, everyone believes in each other.

I didn't get to watch the full game, but what I noticed when I could get a peek or two, was they were really working. It' seemed effortless against the sharks. I was kind of smiling at how quick the team was playing.

Looked up again, total team effort all over the Sharks for the first goal. It's great to see the effort coming from all lines, all of the time.

30 games remaining.

61 points currently. 95 is probably a safe bet to get in given where the teams are now.

That's 34 points in 30 games. Something like 16-12-2. Sounds doable to me.

I hope Hartley is smarter than that. You don't bag skate guys for missing empty nets when you're playing well and winning games. If a coach did that to me I'd lose it.

It feels like this game means more than just two more points. It's like watching the flames pass by the sharks as a franchise as well. Like watching an old powerhouse on it's way down hill while a young team is on the rise. The flames looked like a hungry contender ready to prove how good they are while the sharks looked old, slow, and tired... A team that knows their best years are behind them. I know the flames and sharks are actually neck-in-neck in the standings and they likely will be all season but I think the flames will be better than the sharks over the next few seasons as the sharks dip into a rebuild. If that's the case... I'll look at this game as the moment the flames passed them by... Smiling and waving on the way up as the sharks look on in envy on their way down.

Remember when the question was "When do the Flames pass the Canucks?"? Well that has happened this year
