Sled Island would be NOTHING if not for the 250+ emerging and celebrated artists who play the festival, so it's an understatement to say that we're really, really looking forward to hearing your music hit our inbox soon! Yup, submissions to play Sled Island 2015 are NOW OPEN!
k im just not going to respond to your #### anymore because i have better things to do like #### my model girlfriend rather then try to convince people like you of commonly held hockey knowledge.
Sled Island is thrilled to announce Godspeed You! Black Emperor as the festival's guest curators for 2015.
Since forming in 1994, the celebrated orchestral post-rock band have released four critically acclaimed albums and wowed audiences with stunning shows that blend wall-of-sound performances with captivating film projections. In addition to unleashing their top musical picks on the city, the band will be playing two very special shows at the Central United Church in what will be their first-ever appearances in Calgary.

Very cool. Wonder if their concerts will be by seperate ticket only?
I don't think Sled Island has ever had shows that you couldn't get in to with a pass. But I imagine there will be tickets available, and I think if you want to guarantee that you'll see them, get a ticket or the plus pass.
I'm anxious to see who they bring. This could be another great festival.

There are sometimes shows that are beyond capacity. If you arrive early when doors open you should be able to get in with a pass.
I nearly missed Thurston Moore and Bob Mould, and others were turned away.
Sorry I don't have any pull. I assume they are making these decisions this month, to announce first week of March.
The band looks like exactly the kind of band they would book. Local and indie. The sound is right. They should try and play as many gigs around town as they can - Broken City, Palomino, Republik, Commonwealth etc.
Get the web-site linked to Facebook, Twitter and CBC [check]
If the band has a CD, I can turn it in to CJSW.
Suffragette City (hosted by Jasmine) plays music made by women.
I have met Shawn before - he may have some advice:

They are pretty hopeful. They applied last year but were a fairly new band, didn't have anything recorded and hadn't played many gigs so they didn't make the cut.
They just recorded an EP that is being pressed and should be out in April and I'll give it to you for CJSW. I appreciate that.
Question, who is Shawn?

Hundreds of applications are made each year by musicians of all types. As the festival grows in size and reputation, so does the competitiveness of the selection process. In 2015, it is expected that over 900 applications will be received, competing for approximately 100 spaces. Regardless of the outcome of your submission, we would like to applaud and encourage your contributions to independent music-making. We appreciate your submission, but more importantly, we appreciate your continued creative work.
A diverse listening committee made up of festival staff, musicians, critics, promoters, radio DJs and other industry professionals from across Western Canada will assess the applications based on a combination of the quality of music submitted, its fit with the festival's current vision and its fit with the festival schedule's needs. The quality of the music is far more important to the assessment panel than its production quality, professional promotional photos or lengthy biographical information, however these things, along with live reviews and performance footage, can help to complete our listening committee's picture of your submission's fit within the festival.
In short, our listening committee is hoping to be excited by your music and the thought of seeing you or your band perform live at one of Sled Island 2015's slots.
The deadline to apply is March 3rd, 11:59pm, 2015.
You will be notified of our decision via e-mail by April 7th, 2015.
