Yeah, it means he'll make an extra $1M+ in life-long earnings (above and beyond what he'll earn in the private sector) if he leaves politics now vs. if he waited until he was 65. That's a pretty strong incentive to encourage anyone to get out of public service.

I think we'll see him again in a few years. And I hope we do. A Baird vs Garneau showdown would be good for the country imo.

And taking some time off to get to the business world isn't a bad thing.

Garneau is 65 - I doubt we'll ever see him as Liberal leader, particularly without an 'interim' tag.
