that is a lot to get signed this offseason. I wonder who walks if anybody.
Do we resign McGrattan?

What I'm thinking is, if there is a way to condense the prospect pool by packaging up a few of these RFA's for an upgrade on one. Make room for guys like Rafikov and Gillies as they could and very well should make the jump next year.
I can also see a couple of them traded as well to make room for a couple of College FA signings as well.
There's a lot of meat on the bone on that list. It'll be a test for sure for Treliving to manage it.

I'm probably his biggest fan but I don't see why we would.

Qualifying Offer - Byron, Wolf, Ferland, Baertschi, Jooris, Reinhart, Shore, Arnold, Agostino, Hanowski, Shore
Release - Elson, Cundari, Acolaste
Actual Negotiations - Backlund, Buoma
Not that tall of an order, maybe Jooris has a negotiation of some kind but the rest of them will accept their qualifying offers. Some might not get them.

A two way contract would be fine.

The RFAs are all pretty easy to sign. Just qualify the ones you want, and the Flames will retain their rights. Offer sheets are pretty much no concern, Flames will have lots of cap space to match if they want, and most on those list aren't worth an offer sheet anyways.
Jooris may be the easiest one to sign. No arbitration rights and can't sign an offer sheet = sign with the Flames or play in Europe.
Only concern may be Backlund and Bouma who have arb rights but NHL teams are now settling before arb cases anyways.

If Sven hasn't secured a spot in the lineup by the end of the season, I expect that he'll at least try to sign an offer sheet elsewhere.

I agree with sureLoss. I honestly think Sven is highly overrated by the members of this message board in general. He has 4 points in 15 NHL games this season. No one is going to sign him to an offer sheet.

I think he would make a great CALM coach for rookies on the team and in the farm clubs. He conquered some touch challenges and I doubt any kid would sass him.
He could do community work for Flames too. Helping kids, Flames foundation, outreach.
There is an opp for Flames and Big Ern to do something unique in the community.

Doesn't Gaudreau need to be resigned as well for burning a year off of the ELC last year with the last game against Vancouver? I could be wrong, I could've sworn he signed a 2 year deal and lost one of the years for playing a game.

Gaudreau was a 3 year contract before burning a year

A life coach of sorts? Help players through some of the pitfalls he found.
I dislike fighting in the league but like a guy like him involved in the league/team

Exactly what I was thinking. I wonder if they would keep acolaste for AHL depth if wotherspoon makes it next season, but really no point. You're pretty much right on.

The only UFA I would resign is Glenny. Possibly Diaz IF he keeps it up.

Treliving hinted strongly at moving a goalie. I guess that is pretty obvious though considering how well Ortio played.
