icon57 Calgary Flames coming to High River Friday night

If you have kids and they want to meet some players from the Flames this is an excellent opportunity. Their appearance is part of the towns Winter Carnival on Jan 30th. They will also be there to sign autographs.

The town was not given notice of which players would be attending. Event starts at 6:00PM

The carnival kicks off Friday night with a special appearance by a few Calgary Flames players at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex. The players will face off with some of High River's minor hockey players.

After skating with local hockey players, the Flames will be signing autographs in the lobby. There will also be a photobooth set up to capture memories from the night.

Farrow said it is not known which Flames players will be coming to High River.

“They won't tell us. It's a surprise,” Farrow said

For my sisters school, Monohan, Wideman and Bouma came. They didn't know either.

Turned out to be a great night for the fans and the players who made the trip. A little exhibition game with a team of atom players and then on to an autograph signing session. They signed jerseys for people and cards they had on hand

Players who showed up where Josh Jooris, David Wolf, Sven Baertschi and Tyler Wotherspoon. They were well recieved by the fans of all ages.

Kids and adults got to line up for autographs.....

Harvey made an apperance for the kids

Last but not least I got a picture with Wotherspoon at the end of the sessions.

Sven was a grouch the whole evening. He had a sour look on his face while signing autographs. He had a look of I don't want to be here. Couldn't get him to open up or say much. Maybe he was having a bad day or not comfortable around crowds - who knows.

Jooris was happy to hear the we are rooting for ya comments
. Seemed to be a fan favourite

David Wolf was quite the opposite. Asked him what part of Germany he was from and he opened wide up. A bubbling personality that loves to talk and more importantly to be with the Flames.

When Jooris was walking out I said "playoffs baby!" he smiled and said you know it! Great person to talk with also.

Watching the players interact with the Atom level kids on the ice was priceless. Some where star struck while others were really excited to be playing along side thier heroes. Talk about a lifetime of memories for those kids.

This warms my heart up . Being half Dutch and half German. Having a player that can really portray classic traits of his countrymen to the fans is awesome. Its refreshing some of the answers you get out of European players that are new to the NHL. The remarks are not the average cliché you would usually get.
