Its the first time in 71 NHL games that we've been shutout. The last starting goalie to get a shutout against us was Quick for Kings back on Feb 27th of last year. Thats some streak.

What's frustrating the most for me is that I felt like we got beat at our own game tonight. Minni just seemed a touch faster, just had a touch better goaltending, and ultimately it was a bad turnover that ended up on an elite players stick that killed us. The flames really need to get things going a lot earlier in the game... they can't rely on 3rd period comebacks (although it makes for excellent entertainment).

Sven has 17 points in the AHL this year lets not talk like the Flames are sitting Crosby out for Byron who has 14 points in the NHL this year fyi

Sorry Brad Treliving, but these guys did not earn their roster spots. They were gifted them and that's not good for the development of guys like Baertschi and Wotherspoon who have to know they're already better watching this up in the pressbox.

Right now this has become a one-line team with Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler. The other 45 minutes of the game are a case of just waiting for the main line to come back on. That's not on Stajan, Jooris, Backlund, or Colborne. It's on the guys dragging their line down. Guys on 3 mil/3yr contracts.

It's on Hartley to play Hiller, Sven, Tyler, and Wolf next game. If Ramo gets in because Hiller lost, and Raymond and Engellend and Bollig all slot in next game, and then we win anyways because they're the Oilers, that'll be B.S.
I think if Treliving knew that this team would be this close to a playoff spot he would have made different moves prior to the season. He got these guys as placeholders so the young guys would have time to develop and to meet the cap floor. We thought Johnny could play but who predicted Jooris?

This game might be the one that forces Hartley to inject more youth into the line up. Let the rookies have a go at the Oilers on Saturday night.

What a frustrating game to watch. It wouldn't hurt to sit some guys (we all know which guys should sit) and let the call ups play.

Feels like the last time he scored a break away goal JC was in short pants. The dude is so snake bitten he should be taken to the poison control center.

Right on the head of the nail. No one expected in year 2 of a rebuild to be where the Flames currently sit.

Actually, there is, based on his play in the NHL this season. And yes, I know he has his "swagger" back because he scored in the AHL (just like Raymond would). Do you not remember the slow, fly the zone, not much pressure down low, everyone got excited because 2 assists Sven? And do you recall a Raymond who scored a hat trick against the Oil? So, yeah, it's quite possible Sven can do worse.

Just another 1 goal loss by the Flames. 11 losses this year to my count that were more than one goal. And I'd wager at least six of those multi goal losses came at the expense of empty net goals.

This team is competitive against the entire league.

I thought Byron shot on the one breakaway he cashed. I wonder why he doesn't any more?
