Monahan missed an open net and I'm not sure what Brodie was aiming at during the last sequence. Plenty of Flames could have scored tonight but this is going to happen at times when your team lacks snipers.

I think this is what happens when you try to curse the opposing goalkeeper by saying "shutout". Everyone knows that only works with your own team! You basically solidified Dubnyks SO.

Bollig had a pretty nice game actually. Not sure why people are hating on him.

Really? You're equating Byron with Monahan, possibly our most clutch player?

One has individually won several games this year because of his clutchness. The other simply sucks.

It's too bad Hiller has to get a L on his records with a performance like that. He played spectacular with 4-5 huge key saves.

Only if you actually believe in superstition, which I do not. Dubnyk earned it, nothing more.

Rather sit Byron and play Sven next game so atleast if he misses on a breakaway I can be happy that he atleast got a chance to score.

Because besides one game is December he's been less than average.

The Flames are a decent team currently but there is still a lot of fat to be trimmed from the forward ranks.

The Oilers could really use a goalie like Dubnyk. I wonder if they take a look at him.

Well the season is over. polak declared it a must win game; the Flames lost. By definition, if you lose a must win game you are out. See you in October everyone.

Edit: I just found out there are 33 more games and the Flames can still make the playoffs. I'm assuming they must win them all, but I'll tune in Saturday to watch them beat the Oilers and start the streak.

Good effort by the Flames but the Wild fought hard and Dubnyk stood on his head. Certainly not the end of the world.

I was watching Raymond closely in the third period and I have no idea what he was doing out there. No effort and his positional play is horrible. Would much rather see Granlund or Ferland in the lineup.

Hasn't Monahan already scored more than Byron ever will? Including overtime winners?

Invalid argument

While I would agree that he had a good game for Brandon Bollig, that's still not good enough when we've got a potentially better player underneath him.

And, one is a top 6 forward while the other plays a 4th line role...

Expectations are so out of proportion concerning Byron that he is, essentially, better off never, ever being in a position to capitalize.

I would say it's pretty superstitious to blame the loss on someone an an Internet forum calling the game a must win, no?

Someone should keep track of how many points the team as a whole has lost because of Byron's failed break aways. How many games would have been sent to overtime for at least 1 extra point?

Monahan has single handedly brought this team many points. Byron, not so much.
