I'd send him straight back to Junior, and then once Kingston's season ends in a few weeks I'd send him to the AHL to get more games in and to play for a (hopefully) winning team.

I have no issue with him getting some time in the AHL. The baby Flames could use 2 weeks of Bennett on a line with Poirier.
If he lights up the AHL he gets a couple of NHL games. If he looks like he's out of his depth he can go back to Kingston with a lot more experience and tear the OHL a new Orifice.
Everyone is so afraid that we're going to "Oiler" this kid. With the depth we have at forward there is ZERO danger of that happening.

Pretty sure he can't do this. He can only go to the AHL on a conditioning stint from the big club. I think.

Even when the OHL teams' season ends? I guess he's eligible for another year of junior, so maybe you are right.

yup, I think he is right. That is why an AHL conditioning stint isn't a bad idea even if he just goes straight to Kingston after that. This way the Flames medical staff and coaches can keep an eye on him, I would trust them over the Kingston staff.

Option 3 makes the most sense. If he does well in his conditioning then he will be brought up to perform in the show. If he does well in the show he will stay. I'm very excite.

I think the only wrong answer is "Straight back to junior". With the vastly superior training, medical and support staff that the Flames have, I would rather see Bennett easing back into playing games under the watchful eyes of the big club than the staff in Kingston.
Ideally he goes into the AHL through a conditioning stint and then given some exposure to the NHL again (all under the Flames support staff and with the long term goals firmly in mind). This also has the added benefit of being exposed to the other players on the Heat - McGrattan in particular comes to mind but I think there would be a lot of positive influences there. And then give him a taste of the NHL for added motivation for him to work hard.
Then, if he is deemed to be headed to the OHL, it is with the added conditioning that comes with getting into mid-season form under the big club.
My big question is: What are his post-rehab stats? Has he bulked up at all? 10-15 pounds of new muscle would go a long way to allowing him to make a bigger impact than he did in the preseason. Pretty exciting.

The Flames are going to sink tens of millions of dollars into Sam Bennett.
If you think they are ever going to send him back to play junior hockey against 16, 17 and 18 year olds again, ya'll is crazy.
For all intents and purposes, Sam Bennett is a professional hockey player now.

To me it doesn't make sense for management to send him to junior. What is seriously the point? He's been a Calgary Flame all year and all of a sudden he's going to Kingston? Something tells that's not how management will deal with him.
Sam Bennett is a Flame. Calgary or Adirondack. We should be excited that we're going to see him play really soon.

Send him back to the minors. He has to earn his way in. For all I care, he should've disclosed his shoulder problem from day 1 rather than say "I want to play".

They can only go AHL on a conditioning stint, so it's NHL or Kingston. He's been up because if he's not playing he might as well be under the flames medical staff's care. Do c the conditioning stint and make the decision from there

Yes. That's what I meant. He's a Adirondack Flame for a conditioning stint then a Calgary Flame. Or he's a Calgary Flame. Either way, he's a Flame now.

I think that it's worth noting that the player himself seems to deem himself as a Flame. He's moved on from Kingston in every way in my opinion.

I know there were some quotes that he made the team, but it wasn't until after his injury was revealed, and these quotes are more equivocal.

I wonder - who didn't make the team if he wasn't hurt? I think it was a pretty easy thing for them to say, and I'm not sure (especially since Treliving was cool to the idea all along) that they'd have actually kept him up past 10 games anyway.

I believe it was Hartley or Treliving that said when he was shutdown he would have made the team had he not been injured.
He was by far the best player on the ice in his preseason debut

I keep seeing this said a lot around here, but I've yet to see a single quote/article stating this. Can anyone prove this was said? If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But I've never seen direct proof this was ever said.

Sam gets sent back to the OHL as soon as he has 100% recovered.
Perhaps when his OHL reg season and playoffs are done. He gets shipped to the Baby Flames for their playoffs.
But I'm not certain if that is allowed under the CBA.
