Galiardi, Robak and Olsen on waivers. All 3 clear
Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietva
Waivers: T.J. GALIARDI
WPG
COLBY ROBAK
ANA
DYLAN OLSEN
FLA
Olsen and Robak could be decent depth options on D.
Both young and have size.
But in the end doubt the Flames pick them up
Robak was traded from Florida earlier this season to Anaheim for Blacker and a conditional pick. 2008 2nd round pick.
Olsen was a 1st round pick of the Hawks in the 2009 draft. Panthers acquired him along with Jimmy Hayes in the trade that sent Versteeg back to Chicago

Time to go to Europe, TJ. I think your NHL career is over.

I would like us to take a shot at Olsen if he's still available. I wonder if the Oil would put in a claim though.

Olsen is big and physical. Would look good on the 3rd pairing here.

Definitely Olsen would be a decent pick. I think he's from Calgary as well, not sure.

Born: January 3, 1991 (age 24) Olsen was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, but grew up in Calgary, Alberta.
His father, Darryl Olsen, played in one game with the Calgary Flames during the 1991–92 NHL season

No reason Edmonton shouldn't claim Olsen. Free D.

There is a reason why they won't claim him: Oilers don't like hand me downs, they pick their own dmen - they are cool like that

I remember hearing a piece on Olsen from Eric Francis or someone like that. I believe he was teammates with Joe Colborne on the Camrose Kodiaks, and when Colborne got drafted in the first round, he realized it was his chance to make the NHL. And you know how we like collecting ex-teammates of Colborne's!

I would far rather see an Olsen - Wotherspoon 3rd pairing than any combo of Smid, Engelland and Diaz. Too bad one cant snap the fingers and have contract take care of themselves.

I actually had a strong feeling that he would be picked by Sutter in the 2009 draft but surprisingly he went for Erixon.

Is it me or is there a little stink that sticks with ex-Avalanche forwards that were once productive in their early years? Wolski, Galiardi, Stewart, Jones? A few years back these guys all looked to be players that were on the verge into becoming solid NHL players and really Jones is likely going to be the last guy standing and he's going to be one of those journeyman role players.
