Flames have registered Adirondack Thunder trademark as well.

Interesting enough, stocktonflames.com, stocktonheat.com, stocktongrizzlies.com and adirondackthunder.com were all registered in mid January.

edit: stocktonflames.com and stocktonheat.com appear to have been registered to a cyber squatter.

stocktongrizzlies.com was actually registred by the Calgary Flames

Boise kind of sucks because it is close enough to make a road trip interesting, but far enough to make it impractical. At least with Stockton we could spend a few days enjoying San Francisco as part of the trip, catch a Flames-Sharks game, etc.

huh... Adirondack Thunder is already a name of a boys basketball team. They registered their website like a week before the Flames filed for the trademark

Yeah, and despite being geographically further away, Stockton likely has more direct flight options.

After a quick Google search, it looks like every flight to or from Calgary-Boise has stop overs in cities like San Francisco, Denver, Phoenix, LA or Seattle. It actually makes traveling from Calgary to Stockton just as efficient or more so.

In fact, the quickest travel time that I could find for Boise-Calgary is 4h25min for a flight that goes through Seattle and it was $775 before taxes. Most of them are in the 5-7 hour range though and are about $550. For comparison, you can fly from Calgary to SF directly in 2h50min for ~$600.

I didn't research it too hard, so maybe there are better deals somewhere. And Boise is still like a 13 hour drive from Calgary, so it would be really impractical to drive.

They should just leave the names alone. Why can't they stay the Adriondack Flames and Stockton Thunder even if they are switching leagues? Just change the colors for Stockton and add some flags.

2 #AHL sources say the #Canucks farm team most likely will be in B.C in 2016. Abbotsford or Langley would be logical destinations.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but it looks like the Flames have some player connections in Stockton already.

Lukas Sutter - Rich Sutter's son
Keith Seabrook - played for Abby, brother of Brent

Jon Rosen @lakingsinsider
One detail: Ontario, LA's new AHL affiliate, will have brand new jerseys next year. They'll be revealed very soon, from my understanding.

Think Richards has to model it?

Lance Pugmire @latimespugmire
The Ducks are close to finalizing "Gulls" as new San Diego team nickname I'm told.

San Diego Gulls were an ECHL team for quite a while, and are now a junior team down there. Not really a new name at all.

San Jose will announce a new name for their AHL affiliate later - won't be called the Sharks.
