Smash burger, there is one on 32 ave near Barlow, sadly their menu is regional and I can't get my Colorado burger.

I think we should all agree that to be considered a fast food burger, the establishment must have a drive thru, so 5 Guys cannot be considered.

With that in mind, in Calgary my ratings would be:

Burger King - Double whopper with cheese only
Harveys
A&W
Wendys
McDonalds

Nope, my definition is anywhere that I get my food immediately (or close to) after ordering it.

Subway is fast food. A drivethru does not, IMO, define "fast food", rather the speed at which the food is availible is more the measure.

I also like a Whopper now and again.

When I was at LBHS, we use to hit the Willys at the corner of Fairmount and Heritage for $0.25 1/4 burger, if memory serves IT was the first Monday of every month.

Limit of 4.

not fast food - good food served quickly

anywyas, i guess i see the market as typical places (McD's, A&W, Wendy's, BK etc), and then the cut above (Fatburger, South Street, 5 Guys etc).

i guess it stuns me how when i take the family (4 of us) to A&W the bill seems to be $35 - $40

A & W is definitely at the upper end of typical fast food pricing.

My go-to is the Bacon (Portabella) Mushroom Melt from Wendy's. I trip over myself getting there fast enough every time it shows up on the menu again.

Had Carl's Jr. up in Edmonton last summer - so freaking good, made being in Edmonton much better. Heard White Castle is on the Las Vegas strip now, but those look terrible.

Also a vote for Harvey's - a sometimes under appreciated option that has the patriotic benefit of being Canadian.

Sadly Harvey's are hard to find, I think the one in Dead Rear closed.

White castle is barely a Burger. They are tiny sandwich like things with very thin strips of beef. More of a sandwich.

I guess you could call them sliders? Quality is entirely dependent on the state of the bun.

Yes, years ago. It was in what is now the Coldwell Banker location on the east side of Gaetz Avenue south.

McDonald's gets too much hate, but you think Wendy's has gone downhill? When they changed their meat a few years ago I think they went from one of the worst to one of the best

When I was a teenager (and had the metabolism to match) I would eat that three times a week. That was a damn good burger.

Put me on the Carls Jr train, I LOVE those burgers. Just left Puerto Vallarta this last weekend and that airport has a Carls in it which makes leaving Mexico a little easier. While killing time at the airport, I looked at their webpage and was blown away to see their locations. Freakin Russia has 150+ locations to Canada's 19.

Sent them an email over that, asking when there would be a Calgary location (Edmonton has 2 btw).

Flame Thrower Burger at Dairy Queen
Angry Whopper at Burger King
Big Bacon Classic (or whatever it's called now) at Wendy's
Teen or Mozza Burger at A&W

I love 5 Guys, but don't go that often because of the wait. The one in Red Deer has a very crappy seating area as well.

How the heck did Edmonton get Carls Jr and we don't? Are the portions the same as in the US?
