Love what colborne brings to this team. He's a great depth guy on this team who I think will be a
perfect 3rd line center/winger that brings offence and size to the line up.

No doubt in my mind JG is going to be a 70+ point player in this league. Absolutely incredible! All this hype I have been spewing since BC Year 1 is turning into reality in the NHL !!!

Great to see a convincing win, from a score prospective. These are the games that we need to win to stay in the playoff race but are also the games that you can easily slip up on and lose.

Wasn't planning on going to the game last night as I thought I had a friend who wanted the tickets. That fell through, so I took my oldest son. As he opined in the first period - "this game is better than it should be". Kid is wise beyond his 14 years.
Was damn happy to see Colborne get that goal, he was busting ass all night. Watching Johnny stickhandle continues to be the most fun I have had at a Flames game in a long time. Diaz was surprisingly solid, and I think Byron is showing glimmers of coming back to better games ahead.
All in all, a fun night at the Dome.

Was at the game with prime seats right beside the cameras. It was awesome! Very entertaining game. The first was a little scrambley from both sides, but the Falmes carried the rest of the play pretty handily.
The one thing I will say: What is Mason Raymond doing on the powerplay? So much falls apart when he gets the puck. I think either he's slowed down, or the game has sped up to his level and hes just not "that fast guy" anymore, which was his main attribute. Probably would prefer Jones on that unit, or to replace him with Sven and see how he does. From what I can tell, he's not doing anything to earn PP time.

Going to be? He's already on a 65 point pace, and that's with the slow start. He is pretty much that now.

I was also at the game - I actually thought Raymond was really good in the second period PP (where that unit held the puck in the zone for about 90 seconds). And Colborne's goal, which was just shy of a PP goal, was set up initially by Raymond (he would have had the third assist).
So far this year I've that plays "die on the sticks" of Raymond, Colborne, Stajan, Jones, Glencross, Baertschi and Byron. It's a wonder there are any plays at all.

My issue with Raymond is more that I just don't see him affecting the game. He's just...there. I though Jones had a much better game by creating chances and using his speed/strength to get the puck into the zone. And I didn't see a reason why Raymond should be getting PP time, especially as much as he did.

Jones had a really good game. Led the team in hits, and had a couple shots. But he wasn't actually around any goals. Raymond was +2 though (although he would have lost one of those pluses if the goal had been a second earlier, on the PP).
I suspect the PP role has a lot to do with practice and what Hartley sees there. I wouldn't mind Jones on a PP unit, though. I've actually liked his game all year - he drives the net and has a good wrist shot. He was stung by a bunch of posts earlier or he'd have 3 more goals at least.

Didn't have time when we got home from the game last night so the standards...
The crowd was on edge with all the opportunities that didn't get finished until Jooris put the 2-1 goal in the back of the net at the 9 min mark.
The Flames are quite simply an amazing 3rd period team to watch.

I feel like I have confidence in Hiller again after that disaster against Florida. I'm okay with trading Ramo, let's hope Hiller can play like that consistently. Raymond and Diaz looked much better tonight, Jones was a beast. I want to see Diaz-Wotherspoon and let Engelland sit, slot Wolf in instead of Bollig could be interesting. Send Sven down, I think he needs to season more. Just an all-around complete game by the whole team, if you play like that every night, you get into the playoffs.

Totally agree with your assessment of Raymond last night. He gets the puck and whatever was happening goes to shat. His tunnel vision is annoying, on a couple of shifts Backlund snuck into open ice and Raymond doesn't even take a look, he just fires the puck on some low % shot and SURPRISE! misses the net. Been this way most of the season. Also watching him trying to get the puck off of anybody is just sad. So weak.
Watching him on a nightly basis, it's totally obvious why Vancouver then Toronto had no problems watching him walk away as a UFA. I have to give Jay Feaster some credit here, he wanted nothing to do with Mason Raymond, really wish Treliving would have felt the same way.

It's true - and I actually thought they dominated in the second as well, with the same missed chances (there was a little Sabre flurry at the end of the second which made everyone scared). I think the Monahan miss was in the second.
The Flames got of to a 3-0 lead in shots, and never trailed. The Sabres were generously given a tie by the end of the 2nd, but the Flames looked like the better team the whole game (even in the first).
The biggest changes from the last time were that the Flames were wayy less sloppy in their own end and Enroth was human.

I think he's trying to shoot his way out of his slump. He's playing a completely different game to what he was before he was injured. Earlier in he would try to get open in a good spot or pass it. Now he's trying to carry and shoot from everywhere and is annoying because it constantly wastes opportunities. He's definitely not playing the same game now though

In regards to Mason Raymond, I've been trying to put a finger on what it is that I don't like about his game.
I think tunnel vision describes it quite well. When he gets the puck, I don't see him as a triple threat; is he going to shoot, pass or skate with it? It seems like he gets the puck and his intentions are instantly clear. There's no shiftiness. I rarely see Raymond look like he wants to shoot and then pass, or look like he wants to pass and then shoot.
He's like a quarterback who always looks at the receiver he wants to pass to. He's got a great set of skills but other players are able to keep the opposition guessing.

I've been hard on Raymond, but he had a good game. He and Colborne and Backlund had some good chemistry.
