I want to backtrack a bit here. I just remember that Carolina is going to be bottom 5 and has a strong chance of getting the 1st overall pick. So... if they give us the pick I would gladly take Semin off their hands.

Not going to happen.

I still remember Tim and Sid doing some hilights and they had one of Semin scoring a goal. It was one of the most hilarious sports hilights ever.

Semin shoots,
shoots again,
more semin
more semin shots
there's semin everywhere
semin shots on the goalie
etc. etc.

I think he may have even been on his knees shooting at one point
semin shoots from his knees

Tim and Sid were laughing so hard during this, it was awesome.
Actually I don't even if he scores or just lots of semin shots.

I wish I could find this on the internet but I can't.

Hell no to Semin. Would rather take Richards and that's not saying much. Semin defines lazy.

There is no way in hell that a team would include a first round pick, which could very well be Connor McDavid, to dump this contract. It's not happening. As for retained salary, that means nothing to the guys on the ice who would have to play with this guy. They would see him as a 7 mil per year player who doesn't try and doesn't care yet takes up a roster spot. Fantastic example for our young players who are currently thriving in a merit based system.

Anybody saying grab this guy needs an immediate suspension from this board and needs to go to their room and think about what they are typing....for three days....no toys.

Nobody here wants Semin, they want the compensation for taking him. And there'd be no issues from our management burying him in the minors until he's either off the books, earns his spot or gets dealt to a third party

I really don't see how a soft, lazy floater makes this team better. If anything, taking him on is the definition of blocking one of the kids.

I'm not saying they should grab Semin cause I think he's a useful hockey player. I'm saying if they can get a good prospect or pick as compensation for taking his contract from the Hurricanes, then they should look at it.

It humerous that people think ownership would eat 10-20 million in real $$ for a mid or even above average prospect.

I feel sorry for all those Carolina fans who are doing everything they can to get semin off of their jerseys.

Too bad it didn't work out in the long run. Would like to have seen Semin appreciation night.

Did I do that right?

Seeing as how Carolina is terrible and in the middle of a retool, at the very least. What possible prospect does anyone think the Flames would get that would be even close to worth that contract? Keeping in mind the first sentence.....they are not giving chicken noodle...only chicken nuggets.....mechanically separated.

This guy is a waste of jersey...sock tape....gatorade, you don't want him near the locker room and even billionaires have a limit to how much cash they can just light on fire.

I should add that I have an unreasonable hate for the guy....so much talent and just doesn't care....at all.

This forum seems to really trust in how much money our owner's are willing to spend. They spent a 2nd round pick to avoid paying Kotalik 3 million to go to Europe. They have never retained salary in a trade. If they are going to absorb one of the worst contracts in the league the payout will need to be insane (think Ribeiro rumors), or of course we have our bad contracts going the other way (Smid, Raymond, Engelland etc)

I seriously doubt that any trade involving a lottery pick happens until after the draft lottery and the order is set. The stakes are too high this year to take a gamble and have the pick turn into first overall and the GM that traded away the pick will forever look like a fool.

I think his lackadaisical attitude is worse than his contract. Poison... Stay away!

The Semin situation is getting messy. The thing is Semin has performed well, but only in spurts. In other words, Semin just doesn't have good consistency.

New coaching could help - I heard former goalie Ron Tugnutt may help develop Semin.

Carolina is really going to have to splurge to get Semin out of there. If Semin goes anywhere, though, it will make a big splash.
