I am torn about what they should do with him. I kind of hope he goes down to Addy and helps them for a conditioning stint then sees some time in Calgary.

He is going to be so good, I can't wait to see him in a flames uniform.

Was that even an option...? He would have been better than Brennan Evans I have no doubt.

Interesting hearing Warrener talking about how tired he (and the team) were in the finals. They just ran out of gas.

He is too young to go to the AHL I believe.

The "Can he play in the AHL or not" question has been answered a million times in this thread already.

He can be sent to the AHL on a conditioning stint.

Not everyone is on here daily nor wishes to read 90 pages to see if a question has even been asked.

He can only go to ahl for a conditioning stint, cannot be assigned

Send him down to the AHL to play with all the skilled players... He might learn something....Not! He is at least on a par with Johnny skill wise only a lot bigger..waste of time to send him down

I have a hard time thinking he's that he's on par with Gaudreau skill-wise. But either way, if that's your view, then you will have no problem watching him earn it first, as is the organization's mantra. Let him tear up the AHL.

Ya, he has to play somewhere to show he is ready, just playing in flames practice probably isn't enough for him to earn it. I guess we will see sooner than expected what they do with him.

He is certainly not on par with Johnny skill wise and plays a completely different game. Not sure how it's relevant

I suppose you could put Poirier with him on one wing... Having said that... Im pretty sure he is better than Monahan and Monahan wasn't sent to the AHL for conditioning after his injury early last year.. In any event hes going to be awesome no matter where he plays

I wouldn't say they are that far apart... I didn't expect himi to have a 'skill game' from reading the scout reports but he sure had some dazzle in the preseason, I was quite surprised.

He is young enough that I figure they will send him down, I think he has the attitude where he will go down and work hard to get ready for next year.

He does for sure, but his game is about driving the net hard, not perimeter feeds and slipperiness like Gaudreau. The progression is going to be different than Johnny's, so whether he makes it or not I don't think Johnny is a very good comparison

This is a player that at least 1 scouting service had ranked #1... CSS?

He has a ton of skill. He could very well be the most skilled forward in that draft.

Doesn't have a skill game?

He put up 1.60 PPG in his draft year. MacKinnon was 1.70.

And MacKinnon played on a high-scoring Memorial Cup winner that included Drouin and 5 other guys that were over a PPG (MacKinnon was 5th in points). Conversely, Bennett was the highest scorer on his team by a substantial margin.

Bennet is first and foremost a skilled player. He's a much more dynamic forward than either Draisatil or Reinhart.

To some people skill = slick puckhandling and passing only. They don't, for example, think of Iginla as skilled.

Me, I think there are lots of skills. Speed, quickness, deking, passing, shooting...
To me a "skilled player" is a guy who has lots of those tools. Byron is really skilled, but only in regard to one skill
