Speculation: Players/Flames Players for Under 23 NA WC Team
Interesting concept just announced for The World Cup of Hockey in Sept 2016. Two additional teams: Team Europe and a North American Under 23 team.
Look forward to seeing Monahan, Bennett and Gaudreau on it. Monahan wearing a letter. Maybe Hartley as coach as a great teacher and bilingual coach for media purposes.
Really pumping up Poirier when he hasn't played a single NHL game yet.
This is U23 for all of North America. The team will be very good.
There may be no Flames on the team.
Gaudreau and monahan will be there IMO. All poirier/Bennett need is a good start to there rookie season and they're borderline on the team, it will be a good team but u23 means players drafted from 2011/2012 and from there to 2015, there won't be many 2015/2014s on the team, there is a good possibility they will.
Sean Monahan has scored more goals than any player drafted in 2012 and in 2013. He will be entering his 4th year as a pro in 2016 and likely will be the Flames undisputed #1 centreman. Barring injury, there is no way in hell he doesn't make this team IMO.

Not eligible. Apparently it's "young guns" team first. If he doesn't make the young guns team he is eligible for team usa.
Now THAT'S a dumb idea.
Sidney Crosby scored the golden goal at the age of 22, Connor McDavid may be just as good as him and would have to play for Team Young Guns instead of Team Canada? Lame.

Crosby should have been on the 2006 team as well.
But it's only the World Cup and a one off event, depending on whose selected (Flames players) I'll probably cheer for this young team over Canada.
