Gio probably gives less of a #### about this thing than we do. It's just fun and games for him. He pretty much gets to fanboy out for once as a player getting to hang out with some of the league's best for a weekend.
He doesn't care about personal glory or his 'due'. That's why he's the captain.

Sorry, but this just sounds like justification for wanted anger and drama. I would guarantee that Giordano is honored to be recognized in this way.
I was going to watch it initially to support Gio. Earlier today, I was excited to be able to do it for Gaudreau as well. It seems illogical to exclude Johnny, but I'm still going to enjoy watching Gio have fun.

I don't think I can care any less about any All Star Game. To me, they are all absolutely pointless. That said, the decision to play one forward short, when you have one forward right there is absurd. I wasn't going to watch the game regardless, but the NHL should give a statement on why Gaudreau is not in the game and Ekblad is.

Not a lot; said the NHL was caught off guard by Crosby declining. suggested one of the considerations was the three remaining rookies feeling "marginalized". Also said the NHL had materials (posters?) already printed.

It really shouldn't be dependant on if he is a Flame or not. Even if Johnny Hockey was an Oiler it is still an outrage. How can you favour two rookies and not a third? Additionally what kind of message does this send to the Calder Cup contention? Johnny Hockey need not apply. NHL has always favoured Eastern and US teams.

I almost actually cared about the all-star game for the first time since I was a kid. Thankfully the NHL stepped in and kyboshed that.
