It is only an all star team but Shattenkirk is on the team (as one of 2 Blues) and Pietrangelo and Bouwmeester are not.
It seems pretty apparent that Bouwmeester is very difficult to play with,
Pietrangelo was set to be in the Weber/Doughty class of d-men and after 2 years with Jbo he is not even the all-star rep from his team.
Maybe Gio was actually all-star caliber 3 years ago.

If I recall correctly they only have the rookies do 1 or 2 events correct?
If so I almost hope Johnny doesn't do the breakaway challange because, again basing this straight on memory, it is sort of a lame gimmicky event. I'd rather see him do the stick handling or accuracy or something.

Or it means Shattenkirk is tied for the league lead in points for defenseman and deserves to be at the All-Star game. Had absolutely nothing to do with Bouw

Get out of here with your anti-Bouwmeester garbage. Nobody cares.

I hope Gio gets to participate in the accuracy target contest.
Can't wait to see Johnny in the deke portion. He should also be put in any stick handling and obstacle skating event

So announced today that both Malkin and Crosby are out of the all-star game.
Forsberg was already announced as Malkin's replacement.
With it being so late in the process I wonder if they go to the rookies again for a replacement...Gaudreau with a chance maybe?

He might have two chances at a spot:
“@Real_ESPNLeBrun: Told there's another all star player awaiting MRI result who may or may not pull out. Not sure who”

That probably makes the most sense.
With the way the league is hyping Johnny already, putting him in the vote for the breakaway challenge (which he is currently winning), I wouldn't be surprised if they want him in the actual game.

Gaudreau is only 2% up on Giroux now. Better keep voting!

That's awesome! I'm glad he'll actually be playing in the game now and the hockey community will all be able to see how special of a player he really is. I think he's going to really do great in this format.
Johnny Hockey MVP of all star game!
