Yes and he was yapping at the ref wondering why a penalty wasn't called, for the high hit.
IIRC, I think it was Nolan though.

Nolan hit Smid.
Why this guy is still in the league is beyond me. All he does is hit guys in the head and injure/end careers. He's a dirty player and needs to be removed from the league.

Perhaps. I still feel like Ramo is a good goalie, and maybe better suited to share duties with Ortio. Hiller signed here to be 'the guy,' and he's being paid to be. If Ortio is really able to take over, it doesn't make a lot of sense to have a high priced starter riding the pine.

Smid going on IR comes at a good time for a roster spot with Ramo coming off IR so Hartley can keep playing Ortio.
Looking forward to see how much better Witherspoon has gotten.

Except there is no way to know if Ortio is ready to take over until he plays well over half a season. Even if Ortio is ready I doubt he plays more than 40-50 games next season. They will need to lean on Hiller as Ortio learns to be an NHLer.

tough to not be excited when almost every other call up has really worked well fitting in and making a difference. Wotherspoon was sound in his call up last year, and I think he has a shot to force a trade and stick. Diaz may be on his way out if Smid returns sooner than expected.

Why not Engelland? He's been poor at best. That anchor of a contract may be the deciding factor.

Yeah, deciding factor as to why nobody will take him. So he will end up staying, or is that what you meant?
Can't tell if you mean that's why you think he wouldn't go or why we should trade him. At any rate horrible signing in my mind and good luck getting rid of that. Purely a contract to get us over a salary cap hurdle.

Hiller signed here for the chance to be the guy - nobody can say he hasn't had his opportunity. At the end of the day, even if Ortio enters next year entrenched as the starter, I would think the team still needs Hiller to play 30+ games, and getting $4.5M for the privilege isn't something Jonas should be too upset about.

I wonder if Kulak will get called up to the Baby Flames? Numbers have been pretty consistent in the ECHL. 24 points in 31 games, and +7. Would be nice to give him another run in Addy--thought he looked good in his brief time last year.

I doubt it. With the Wotherspoon call up, we still have 8 defencemen on the team and I believe all are healthy or close to it. We have too many D, not enough playing time for all. As well, the schedule is light (3 games in 2 weeks) with only one back to back series, so there isn't a need to call him up.
