All players I'll be over the moon with if the Flames select one.
If Carlo continues to improve his offensive game I would be thrilled to get him; though the rest of the list would be solid as well.

Good thing Feaster is gone or he'd be a Flame in the 1st round.

Such a great skater for a guy his size. His shot when he does use it is a bomb. Carlo looks like a great fit for some criteria the Flames are needing to address this draft.

The way scouting services have been sliding Korostelev down the rankings lately I'm seriously hoping he can be nabbed with the Flames' 2nd round pick, but that might be too far down the ladder.

He's may drop, even if just for the "Russian Factor". Pure beauty if he does.

Might be worth a 7th maybe, or an invite to the development camp.

Not really though.

Ritchie had 39 goals and was 1.2 ppg in his draft year. He was the big guy, that also had lots of talent, but also had some questions with his fitness and commitment.

Crouse just seems like a big guy. Only 0.75 ppg and doesn't have the flashes of offensive talent and domination you saw with Ritchie.

I guess I like Crouse more than most here. Ritchie seems to have a better scoring pedigree, but watching those two side by side at the WJC, I thought Crouse was better now, notwithstanding he being 1.5 years younger. Tough to say how it will all translate later in the NHL, but I thought Crouse was big, fast and skilled. I assume that is what Hockey Canada saw when picking him as a 17 year old.
Would be more than happy if Crouse was available in the Calgary range, although I would certainly prefer the D men that are being mentioned in the thread.

Wonder when the Oilers look at Vladimir Tkachev who is ranked 121 on the NA ranking to justify the signing out of training camp?

He's having a pretty mediocre year. Hopefully they use a second.

I wonder how some other team could troll them into going one round too many on Vladdy.

Alternatively, if he's a real late rounder, the Flames should take him on a whim. You never know - he might become good.

Or... they could just draft whoever they think is the best player available, and not stoop to Oiler levels.

Bah - at that round, who the hell knows who is the BPA? He's as good a bet as any in the 6th.

"Rationale Behind the Combined Rankings

As you are aware, NHL Central Scouting produces a segregated set of rankings. That is, they are separated based on North American skaters and goalies as well as European skaters and goalies – four lists in total...:

North American Skaters
International Skaters
North American Goalies
International Goalies

The four lists makes the job easier for Central Scouting but they are limited in terms of where a respective prospect ranks across the lists. Therefore, each year I combine the four lists into one to obtain a better understanding of where Central Scouting is ranking the players overall. The four rankings were combined in THW’s NHL Draft War Room from NHL Central Scouting..."

fun fact: the Oilers once did that and took a player in the draft (Tony Hand ... yeah, that's his real name) just because Sather knew that the Flames liked him and they wanted to piss them off. Pass on Tkachev though, unless he's available in round 7.

I actually remember Tony Hand. Probably because he was Scottish.

With Bob McKenzie's ranking just around the corner, we at Future Considerations have released our Midterm Ranking, featuring the top-100 prospects (as we see them at this point) for the 2015 NHL Draft.

Top three should come as no surprise. Feel free to dig into the full Top-100, though!

Quote:
CALGARY, AB – Connor McDavid of the Erie Otters tops Future Considerations’ Midterm ranking for the 2015 NHL Draft presented by FASTHockey.

McDavid, who has held the top spot at Future Considerations since the Preliminary ranking was released last May, continues to display why he’s the elite talent from 2015. The 18-year-old Erie Otters captain has been an Ontario Hockey League standout, posting 23 goals and 66 points in 25 games this season.

He also helped Canada to a gold medal finish at the 2015 World Junior Championship, posting three goals and 11 points in seven games.

Boston University’s Jack Eichel and Noah Hanifin of Boston College, who represented the United States in the same tournament, are ranked second and third respectively. Both have held those positions since Future Considerations’ preliminary ranking, too.

Dylan Strome, McDavid’s teammate in Erie, is ranked fourth. Lawson Crouse, a teammate of McDavid’s from the World Juniors, slots fifth.
