Also, in order to qualify the Leafs as No Good:

I was watching Thats Hockey yesterday and they were saying that the Leafs' current goal drought up until they got one last night was their worst scoring spell since 1927.

There is no "O" in Leafs

From Elias: The Maple Leafs, who were beaten 4-1 by the Carolina Hurricanes in Toronto on Monday night, have been outscored 16-2 during their current five-game losing streak. They've tied the Toronto franchise record for fewest goals scored over any five-game span in one season, a mark set in January 1929 in the era before the NHL rules permitted forward passing in the offensive zone. Only three other NHL teams in the last 37 seasons scored as few as two goals over a five-game span: the 1997-98 Blackhawks, 2002-03 Flames, and 2013-14 Kings (who didn't fare too badly as things turned out).

man oh man are the leafs brutal.

You have a team make up where the top guys aren't necessarily good character/leader type guys, and in a market where the media gong show is so immense, and your bound to fail. the leafs brass has repeatedly fail to understand that in order to build a strong team, they need skill (which they have) but just as important is competitive individuals with strong leadership qualities in order to be able to get beyond the media scrutiny that comes with playing in this market.

building around guys like kessel, phaneuf, who are good players, isn't going to get them anywhere, as they lack in character and leadership qualities.

on a side note, gardiner is an absolute brutal dman. like he's justin shultz bad, maybe worse considering he actually has some NHL caliber Dmen around him to be mentored by. If gardiner is on the leafs roster come next season, in my books Shannahan is just as big an idiot as the franchise he's inherited.

As far as I know in Canada they wouldn't have to bring forth charges. I'm sure someone in the know can chime in but I think Toronto Police (or the Crown) can press charges.

I kind of think the whole jersey tossing is hilarious when it happens to an opposing team. But on the other hand I don't understand it at all. You've spent how many hundred dollars on tickets and a jersey and to show your frustration you throw it on the ice. Why bother going in the first place. I'm pretty sure everyone in the locker room understands fans aren't happy with a losing streak, or 5th 1st overall pick in a decade...

Either way, if you're going to throw it on the ice when play is stopped, fine. It's not like it causes any damage to the ice that needs to be repaired. I'm fine with people who throw crap on the ice (during game play) being charged though. It's bush league.

Lol so #jerseygate is now trending in Canada.

@Torontopolice #Jerseygate update: 3 fans threw jerseys @MapleLeafs game @AirCanadaCentre during play. Discretion used after investigations... ^vk

@Torontopolice #Jerseygate update: All three trespassed, banned for a year from all @MapleLeafs MLSE properties. Names will not be released... ^vk

@Torontopolice Car interferes w/ traffic, complaints why cops aren't there. Fans interfer w/ National game/broadcast, complaints why cops bother... ^vk

@downgoesbrown Jersey-tossing Leaf fans sentenced to solitary confinement. They'll have to sit in the platinums during the first ten minutes of a period.

Also I was looking and wow phaneuf only has two goals this year!? For a guy who is an offensively minded defensman that pretty awful.

How come fan expectations and media pressure helps the Habs and hurts the Leafs?

haven't been in montreal enough to get a gauge of just how bad things are, but living in toronto for 10 years, it is crazy how much airtime this team gets for just about anything. Any small news becomes front page, headlines on TV/Radio/internet to an unbelievable point. Should the news be some struggles, the media takes a strangle hold of it.

May be Montreal's as bad, i don't know.

Montreal has better leaders and character guys. I guess it starts with price, and as you go thru the roster there are more competitive and character guys sprinkled in.

I can see how there is a public mischief charge as throwing the jersey on during play causes a stoppage and interrupts everyone else watching. Not sure I agree with it though.

Habs have history of success, media supports team and want to see them succeed. (As long as the team maintains it's quotient of French players)

Leafs has history of failure, media burns them down and wants to see them fail.

Just my opinion.

http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/a...ction-430.html

I guess it falls under s. 430(1)(c) or (d).

Maybe to Leaf fans it falls under 430(4.1) as well.

Classic how rattled these hockey guys get about the "sacred" sweater. Its a damn jersey, and if you bought it you can do whatever you want with it. How about....score a goal, or maybe win a game...?

You think fans should be able to throw anything they have purchased onto the ice?

As a hockey player should the logo you play for not have a sense of pride attached to it, no matter where you are in the standings?

Still no excuse for throwing a jersey on the ice while the play is going. That's Canuck fan low

Is Tyler Bozak their #1 centre? He was -4 last night. His game has been putrid this year.

I'm so glad we don't have Neon Dion anymore:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toront...-ice-1.2919734

He just doesn't get it. Seems to think they can play however and the fans should just suck it up and cheet for them lol. How about you learn to play good hockey? Dion has the IQ of a rock.

Really though when you think of all the years the Oilers and Leafs organizations have tortured their fan bases I have a hard time getting overly upset as when is enough enough for these organizations?

Not to defend Bozak or the leafs but pointing out someone as -4 really doesn't mean anything without context.

Just read this article on Couterier going -5 in the NYI game:

Banned from Leafs games for a year!?!

They really ought to be punishing this behavior, not rewarding it.
