This is why Islam itself is so dangerous and not just a small number of extremists. You get brainwashed christians in the US, they protest abortion clinics, maybe firebomb them in extreme circumstances, but nothing in their book advocates or excuses killing innocent children. Islam needs a reform in the worst way, it never got it's own new testament that took out the barbaric violence, and until that happens I don't think anything will change

To be honest, I've spent a lot of time thinking about this lately. I tend to think that radical elements of religions are basically no different then the various death cults that pop up from time to time.
They basically follow Charles Manson's guide book. You find the disenfranchised. The lonely the hopeless the guilable and the stupid and you give them whatever they want to hear. You give them a cause with no restrictions whatsoever.
In the case of radical Islam you cherry pick the phrases that allow you to guide your vision, deprive them of knowledge and the desire to make decisions and then set them loose on the world.
the moderates out there follow a religion called Islam. The radicals follow a cult called Jihad.

Radical Islam is basically a street gang. Scoop up the disenfranchised, the under educated, the westerners who feel like outcasts. A higher sense of purpose, duty and morality replaces the "family" of the street gangs.
It's all the same ####.

Not just Fundamentalist Islam. Weeks Earlier a Christian Fundamentalist from the USA was arrested in Jerusalem with 6 explosive devices to blow up the Mosque's in the Holy land as the most holy Mosque in Jerusalem is built on the spot where Jesus would make is return according to biblical texts . He cannot return says the scriptures until a proper temple is built on this location.

Lots of 'political leaders' joining in on the photo op... I love Neil Macdonald. But most of you will hate him.

Of course it won't get coverage he is Christian. There have been lots of stories last year about similar things. It gets mentioned once then droped in N.A. If you check out Isreali news pages it is covered much more.
Just like how a Christian Nazi killed 3 people he believed were Jewish and the victims turned out not to be Jewish . Mentioned for a few days then forgot.

He's obviously lying.

Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany was right there next to the president of France on Sunday, marching through the streets of Paris for all the world to see – all the world, that is, except the readers of an ultra-Orthodox newspaper in Israel.
The newspaper, HaMevaser, altered a front-page photograph of the march to remove Merkel and other female leaders, setting off snickers and satire on social media.
“It is rather embarrassing when, at a time that the Western world is rallying against manifestations of religious extremism, our extremists manage to take the stage,” Allison Kaplan Sommer commented on a blog for Israel’s left-leaning newspaper Haaretz. She berated HaMevaser for “denying the fact that in the wider world, beyond the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community, women do stand on the world stage and shape events.”
Apparently deleted along with Merkel were: the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo; a European Union official; and Simonetta Sommaruga, the president of Switzerland.
The altered photo, first pointed out by Walla, an Israeli news site, drew wide scrutiny. Rather than just blur the women’s faces, HaMevaser tried to make it appear as though no women had been there to begin with. The results were far from seamless: Mediaite called the alterations “sloppy,” citing the discoloration of a man’s face, a disembodied hand, a mysterious glove and an unexplained blur, and posted a comparison with the unaltered original.

France ordered prosecutors around the country Wednesday to crack down on hate speech, anti-Semitism and glorifying terrorism, announcing that 54 people had been arrested for those offences since the Paris attacks.

My question is, if it is legal to arrest those people now, why wasn't it legal to do so a week ago? Something is either illegal or it isn't and laws don't change that fast. Hopefully they apply the same standards to the anti-Muslim hate speech that the French find so acceptable.

Hating on the French now? That is a broad acusation.
I would hope that anti-Muslim hate speech would be treated the same, as you suggest. However, the cartoons of Charlie Hedbo that I have seen wouldn't qualify.

First off I will say I find the laws highly questionable.
But from what I understand people are being arrested for glorifying the recent terror acts. Anyone tweeting that the attacks were a good thing could be arrested. Don't really think that was the intent of the laws, which was to stop terrorist acts.
I think we'll also see a lot of these charges being dropped or failing to convict.

I feel the need to point out that a born again Christian fundamentalist president who claimed to talk to god decided to invade Iraq and thus caused the deaths of up to half a million Muslims, in what he described as a crusade. Thus far us Christians have done far more damage to the world within the last decade than Muslims could even imagine.
We randomly kill via drone thousands of people most of whom have done no more than be in the wrong place when a computer at the NSA decides that their phone traffic patterns makes them a possible terrorist.
In the overall who has the most bloodthirsty violent religion christian fundamentalism wins the body count hands down.
