PIMking, you have to realize, that most Muslims are great people. Do I believe in their religion? No. But do I believe in any religion? No. In your neck of the woods you probably haven't had a chance to meet many of them. And for the better part, they are just like anyone else, besides maybe a beard and hat that seems funky to you and me.
This is about a tiny, tiny faction of Zealots that have perverted the Koran into a killing tool. And are trying to enforce Sharia law, which is brutal, and cruel. Almost no Muslims in the Western world support this. These comic writers are not targeting the peaceful muslims, they are targeting the extremists, ruining it for everyone.

Did you know that one of the workers in that grocery store in Paris that saved many lives was...........Muslim?
If you are against extremists or terrorists, fine, but I don't think it's fair at all to paint all Muslims with the same brush.

It's not a tiny fraction of zealots though, just look at the polls that were posted earlier in the thread. Sure a small fraction of muslims are the ones who act out violently, but a much larger number support the ideas of sharia law and violence against non-believers. And then you have states like Saudi Arabia, who in public denounce killings like this, but in private fund terrorist groups and fully enforce sharia law to a barbaric extent. This from the "closest ally" the west has in the region
Then you add in that the Koran is a much more violent text than in any other modern religion, and it's not hard to see why groups like ISIS have such an easy time finding recruits. There are millions of good people in the world who are Muslims, living here has allowed me to interact with quite a few. But the teachings they follow are deeply flawed

There is a huge difference between saying something, and doing something.
How many times in your life, has someone screwed you over, or wronged you, and you say "I'm gonna kill that guy/kick his ass next time I see him." We've all done it, and nothing comes of it. A huge portion of it is posturing, and to a certain extent, peer/family pressure to hold those beliefs.

Of course the fact 'we' have spent the past 100 years screwing with the Middle East, culminating with the horrendously cack handed invasion of Iraq, also makes it pretty easy to get young Muslim men to want to strike back.

Serious question: if i posted a cartoon of the prophet (not doing anything objectively offensive), would I be banned? Picture removed? To me, that is the show of solidarity the west should strive for. Free speech. Does not cause harm (or if it does, please explain).

This is what I'd like to see from more prominent muslims
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2015...ve-television/
Condemning violent attacks is easy, takes a little more guts to tell you fellow followers to look deeper in the root causes of these issues

Yes most if not 98% of them are great people, but why are we having such a huge problem with them? why does the average muslim or community not shun them?
I hate religion, I hate religious morons like these terrorists.

I am not sure that is a reason to murder cartoonists.

This is just an observation. I have a feeling the Germans are going to ultimately take care of this problem. Within the next 20 years or so...

No, not specifically. But it gives (outraged/crazy/easily manipulated) young people who come from these horrible countries reason to wreack havoc in the countries that engage in operations in their home countries.

I disagree.
Look at how Canada and the USA have treated the Aboriginal populations in the past century. Look at the atrocities that have been committed in Southeast Asia by the former colonial powers, and ultimately the Americans. I can give several more examples, but only Muslim extremists have used terrorism against western countries for the last 50 years.
