Hey GoJetsGo....this was posted above your latest post. I had a similar thought to yours after the original comment. Since then he has explained his intention a few times and I think you need to let it go.

It was suggested / alluded to twice that the Jets organization may be exploiting Gabe by giving him a season's pass and helping him to do what he loves.

Chief is saying he meant no offense to Gabe, but regardless, with the insinuation that the Jets Organization is somehow exploiting him (as furthered by Jiri pointing out there are those that question if he's being 'used') it was a valid point to touch on. The Jets have been first class all the way in aligning themselves with Gabe. He means as much to the organization as the team means to him and he's become a fixture in the city's sports scene.

It is safe to say that everyone now knows the complete situation. Da Chief is kinda trying to say sorry in his way, you are really pissed and I am just trying to give you advice. Let it go....this is all I am going to say

You seem to be confused as to the direction of the conversation. Go back and re-read. He's been suggesting the organization is exploiting Gabe, and Jiri asked that question as well. I was simply responding to that as it is offensive to both the Jets as an organization as well as to it's fans.

You should take your own advice about letting it go as your'e doing nothing to contribute to the discussion.

I agree.

The first time I ever saw Gabe dance was the Summer of 1983, at a CFL game in Winnipg. My Dad and best friend were there, and he joked that Gabe "probably had a few too many drinks." Of course, back then few people knew his situation. Once they find out, most are usually accepting and him dancing is harmless, and nave never really offended anyone to my knowledge.

There was an incident a few years back in Regina, at the Labour Day Classic, where some Roughrider fans were yelling, and poking fun at him. However, the Winnipeg fans he was with informed the Rider fans the situation, and despite the ugly rivalry between our respective football teams, the Rider fans were very apologetic, and even bought him some food at halftime.

I see where people not familiar with the situation are coming from. However, Gabe has always been accepted by Winnipeg sports fans. I apologize to DaChief if my first comment to him was reactionary, as sometimes I forget that he isn't widely known outside Manitoba.

Exactly this, snap judgement on both sides

Well getting back on topic, the Jets are no good at sustaining 2 goal leads. I can't even count the number of times the team has let the opposition rally to tie the game in the 3rd period.

Actually he is contributing by providing sound advice. Calm down and realize that not everyone has all the background on a situation. Next time instead of flying off the handle - how about you post something that provides that person with the information they were lacking.

"Hey seems like you don't have all the background on Gabe. It is a pretty good story if you read this: ".

That's a far better response than calling someone vile. Not everything on the Internet has to be a fight.

I did that with post #100 Jiri, no comment on that content considering you seemed to share his insinuations about the exploitation?

I mentioned that I found Cheif to be vile when considering his comment about wishing Matt Cooke ends up in a wheel chair in addition to suggesting True Noth is exploiting Gabe.

Not flying off the handle at all. As someone who grew up with Gabe at Jets games and having a cousin with a similar condition I found his comments in extremely poor taste. I got the message about not attacking him directly and made my feelings clear in post #100.

Where did I express I shared his viewpoints. In fact I was QUITE clear that I was trying to present what I thought he meant.

And then you kept it going even against people trying to help.
This post is awful against someone who was actually trying to mediate
" You should take your own advice about letting it go as your'e doing nothing to contribute to the discussion."

Anyways I've made my points. Further questions send them to the Mod account.

Apologies for the de-rail folks. Back to things that are no good - like Winnipeg.

Really hope the Jets can make the playoffs this year. I always liked Maurice when he coached with Toronto and the fans are nuts.

That's a little off topic.

Lets save this thread for Jets bashing after a 4 game losing streak, or when Evander Kane gets charged with assault for whopping you with his block of cash.

I am enjoying that the Jets are finally starting to feel like our rival again. For a while they have felt as beige a hockey team as the Senators.

Maurice does seem like one of the good guys. Shame he's coaches team like the Leafs and Jets to which I can't cheer for. I hope they miss the playoffs by a single point if only to push the dagger an inch deeper into the hearts of Jets fans.
