Shore and elite? Sven is miles ahead of him in terms of skill and speed.
Kyle Greentree and Kris Chucko is Mr Shores ceiling
Edit; calgarypuck is up in arms with Byron and his lack of finish, Shore has zero finish and
Zero speed. At least Byron can provide pressure on the Pk
He's tied for 13th in the entire AHL in points, and 6th for players 24 and under. Shore is an upper tier AHL player. He might only be a depth forward at the NHL level, but he is an elite AHLer at the moment.
Your hatred of him seems over the top for no real reason.

Ortio was great. What really impressed me was how solid he was 'standing his ground' when the puck was in the crease.
Hiller is a decent goalie but every time there's a downlow in the crease play I get scared. I wonder what the stats are on Hiller - what area of the ice are most goals that are scored on him from? I'd guess a lot of them are from in tight, where he just seems to be a spaghetti noodle. Also, teams are very prone to taking shots from the side and behind the net on Hiller. He's not very strong at hugging the post.
I'm not saying Ortio is the answer - it's been one game. However, something's gotta give here. Our goaltending has to be sharper if we're going to make the playoffs.

You're spot on - I mentioned last night in the GT that Ortio's ability to find loose pucks and corral rebounds is such that the whistle is already blowing while I'm looking for where the puck went. I have Rob Kerr-like "Where is it?!" moments of panic when it happens with Hiller in net.
For a smallish goalie, he holds his ground very well vs goal crashers.

Agreed. But the thing about that is that is EXACTLY what I thought his biggest problem was last year. He played well in his call-up, but I thought he wasn't strong enough in tight battles and didn't hold his ground. Last night, he was great in that regard.
And he is really good at hugging the post, as you say. I just prefer his style to Hiller's.
I also agree with the many posters who say Hiller makes me nervous. I had total faith in Ortio throughout the game (which I didn't have last year).
I really hope that Hartley decides to run with him while he's hot. Again, what do they have to lose?

Where ru Chris O'Sullivan hates Backlund
zyzz hates Shore
RoughRiderRowdy hates Stajan
Massive group that hates Jankowski
I just wonder why? it seems personal! especially since these guys are going nowhere anytime soon and play on your fav team..
The Jankowski hate is hilarious. 15 points in 18 games, leaned on heavily by Providence Coach Leeman for faceoff and defensive duties, trending up in every way..still gets pooped on at a moments notices by a handful of fans. I could rattle of a list of 4-5 posters who only post to #### on him. Those same posters will tell you in the same breath they really want him to succeed. They'd rather be right then have a successful prospect.

It's so much easier to be negative when it comes to being a fan of a team, especially if your primary concern is 'to be right' rather than 'to enjoy the ride'.
You get to say things like "Jankowski won't amount to anything special for the Flames", but then celebrate and enjoy if he does.
You get to say "The Flames just aren't going to succeed if they don't X, Y, and Z" and then celebrate when they win (games, make playoffs, win rounds in the playoffs ...)
Then when people call you on it, you say, "Hey, I'm just being realistic!" If a prospect doesn't turn out? "I was the first one to say Drew Shore wasn't going to make an impact!"
Everyone makes fun of the Detroit Lions fan who got "2015 Super Bowl Champions" tattooed to his calf, but (personal tastes regarding tattoos aside) I think there's something admirable about being so optimistic.

Does Shore have a chance at never making an impact! Of course.
Are his chances better than Knights were? I'd say yes. So it's a good deal. Even if he plays well, but gets caught in the numbers game (again), he gets traded for a different asset later.

Hiller reminds me too much of McElhinney when he was backuping Kipper. Except Hiller is down on his knees and stays down on that butterfly position for most of the plays in front of him. His lateral movements are slow, although it has improved in the last few games. The Flames goalie coach has probably worked continuously on his lateral movements so that he's not side-stepping with his big pads when he's in that butterfly position. The way Hiller sits close to the crease a lot of times without moving out to challenge is an indication that he doesn't have any mobility with his second and 3rd shots. For butterfly goalies, Hiller doesn't compare with Roy or Giguere. Ramo was sort of like that last year, but it seems he's improved a lot this year and adopted more of a hybrid style with great lateral mobility and pretty good athleticism.
I still say if the Flames hadn't picked up Hiller, they would be fine with Ramo and Ortio. It'll be interesting to see what the Flames will do with Ramo since his contract is up at the end of the season.

So I was listening to the post game show on Sirius XM which had the Canucks radio feed. It was kind of funny. Two things stuck with me (paraphrasing here)
1) "The Canucks just lost to an ahl goalie. An ahl goalie their farm team beat six times this year."
They went on to say the Canucks didn't really test him much, yet the four posts were mentioned over and over.
2)" There should've been some penalties against the Flames. It's not like the canucks were embellishing much out there like they've been known to. Well, there was that Kassian flop...and maybe Edler did once, but that's it"
Seriously. They basically said "we only embellished a little"
I snickered

Flew to Vancouver to watch the game last night. We kept to ourselves despite the inevitable loser fans around us, but the highlight was when we were celebrating the final horn, a guy a couple rows below us chucks a beer at my friend. He sees it coming mid air, and volleyball spiked it right back into the head of the thrower's buddy (also a dink). The ushers came and told us to wait there while they got those guys to leave. Great night.

I love hating on Canucks fans as much as the next guy, but I have a hard time believing this happened.
