Gotta love Huds sense of humour.
Wonder if a Johnny gets tired of the skittles question? He certainly comes across as a modest, respectful young man.

I love the post game interview shenanigans. The McGrattan and Bouma sumo suit was the best.

Yea my pointing out how you're an enduring wet blanket who's hobby is to focus on things that make him miserable is really gloating. I'll stick with that.

After this road trip someone should phone the Flames office and order a pizza and request a Hudler delivery.

We need to give scouting standing orders that all 6th round picks be random Finnish Goaltenders

Ortio is the first star of the night on NHL.com. Well deserved.

Just watching Ortio's quickness and alertness, even in the first period for me inspired a kind of relaxed confidence I haven't felt all season with a lead. I got called out in the game thread for jumping the gun, and all that, and that's fair enough, but what I was seeing in front of the net was a goaltender giving his team a chance.
I say this as someone who does think, despite last night's debacle, that Hiller has been solid enough for us (and the better of him and Ramo even considering Ramo's little win streak), and on most nights when our scoring is clicking is a good goaltender. A good goaltender can win games when the team is playing well. A great goaltender can steal games, and while I wouldn't say Ortio "stole" a game we didn't deserve to win, he certainly stole the show tonight. Which is something I can't remember saying in the last two years. I'm all for trading one of our veteran goaltenders for a #4 D-man to help push Wideman into the 3rd pairing. Premature, one game, yadda yadda I get it. Ramo had some shutouts this year too, and I never felt like they were this kind of shutout, though.

Hudler still wearing his undershirt and just short and his long socks. He just came running from the dressing room and said something to Gaudreau and handed him the pizza and ran back to the dressing room. Classic.

Pumped for the win which brings us back into the hunt however I watched a different game than most of you.
Again, the PP is pretty bad and could elevate this team to the next level based on how many PPs we seem to generate.
Ortio players a great game and without it we could easily lose this 2-1 (badly out shot and out chanced)
I felt Wideman, Russel and Engeland struggled to make the simple plays and I really didnt think we generated much for quality offense.
My biggest gear grinder is the PP - Exclude the first 15 games and I am willing to bet we are near the bottom 5 PP% in the league. Watching other games I will be on the edge of my seat for a PP. With the flames as of late I could turn my back for 20 seconds and know I missed a few attempts to get the puck to the point and then there was a shot from the point which most likely went wide and the puck was cleared.
Anyway, enough debby downer. Ride Ortio while he is hot and give Hiller time to get his stuff together.

Who gets the next start against the Desert Dogs - Hiller or Ortio? Does this shutout get Ortio the next start - earned not given would say so.
