Default A Sushi Date with Ovechkin

Just another reason to like Ovechkin...Hopefully it hasn't been posted already (it's from October) - I did a quick search but didn't find anything.

Coles notes: A 10 year old girl in Washington got to skate with the Capitals - asked Ovechkin on a date for sushi. He said yes.

This made me laugh:

Girl: "Do you...do you...do you...do you eat fried chicken?"

Ovi: "I eat everything. My body can handle it"

I have not seen if this was posted in any of the all star threads, another great part of this story. I think it was a pretty cool add to this storyline. It is always awesome to see some of the bigger sports personalities go above and beyond in a fun way as well.

The car that Ovechkin was lobbying for in the All Star draft - Honda ended up giving him one and he donated it to the organization that helped set up this date. I think he wanted it t go to the family of his date. I'll try and find a link.

I think as Ovie is getting older he is becoming a more graceful superstar. When he was younger it seemed like everything was all about him. It's nice to see he is finally using his success to give back to people. I may be way of base but at the height of Ovie-mania I never heard of him doing things like this.

I figured this was what he was up to when he said he needed it during the draft (had seen the 'date' story previously).
I want to know how Foligno, Doughty & Kane feel about it after being heard saying "Want to piss him off, what's he going to do about it" before choosing him after he pleaded to go last.

Ovechkin The Kind strikes again.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/a...r-jersey-fire/

Quote:
When Jeff and Jessica Jones’ first home burned down in February, one of Jeff’s most cherished possessions — an autographed Alex Ovechkin sweater — was turned to ash.
So, who better to brighten the Washington Capitals fan’s day than Ovechkin himself? That enigmatic Russian who baffles us with all the kind things he does for people and puppies.
After Jessica wrote a letter to the Capitals explaining their misfortune, Ovechkin surprised the couple with a little something:
Edit: I will say our Kristen Hallet is better than the Caps' equivalent.
