Highlights from the 2014 World Championships game between Germany & USA.
Shore with a beautiful goal at the 1:45 mark.
Gaudreau with an equally shifty goal at 4:15.
Umm, ok, wow. that's what we just traded for?
I admittedly know nothing about this player. But THAT was outstanding.
I asked this in the Backburner but I'll ask it here too: CP ranked Knight 14th among prospects this last summer... where would you slot Shore?
IMO, he has to be behind Granlund (who was 5th). I would suggest maybe 8th between Wotherspoon and Reinhart. Or if that's too high, maybe 11th, behind Ortio and Gillies?

Based solely on Trelviing's remarks, I would slot him fifth, ahead of Granlund. Sounds like Shore is ahead in the pecking order to me. We'll see what happens when he's called up I guess.
Cp ranked Knight at 14th, but I would think his stock has dropped since then.
This trade seems like a clear win in my uneducated estimation. Perhaps similar to Joe Colborne steal in that panthers felt they had to deal him before waivers.
No rush? He's ready. He's played 60~ NHL games already.
Yes he played 60 games in the NHL but from different system. I just thought Adirondack and Calgary have the same system so let get acquainted with the system first so it would be easier for him to adapt in Calgary.

He might be ahead in the pecking order but he is 2 years older. Granlund has produced at basically the identical PPG pace in the A. And both have shown that they are NHL-ready.
So for me, similar levels but Granlund gets a clear victory for being at the same place but 2 years sooner.

Hmmm... Big body, I like the acquisition but was Knight not getting it done? I'm confused...
Take it for what it's worth, but I had heard from a reliable source that he wasn't going to re-sign with the Flames. Keep in mind that we traded for him when our center depth was Stajan and Backlund, so he had a reasonable chance of playing on the big club. No one could have predicted how good Monahan would be, or that we'd pick up Colborne. Knight refused to sign with the Panthers because he didn't see an opportunity with the depth they had at the position to make the team.

He is a RFA after this season not a UFA, would he not have to sign with us as I assume he would be qualified?

We would retain his rights, but he isn't obligated to sign. A similar situation as the O'Reilly one a few years ago.

Flames still hold Chad Billins NHL rights he didn't sign the qualifying offer and is playing in Europe this season
i was never that impressed with Knight but he was a hyped prospect that I was very happy to pick up for a 4th rounder. Now flipping him for an upgrade is even better.
I have not read anywhere that this is anything but a win for Calgary. Seems like a deal Edmonton should have been working on but they lack good prospects to swap unlike Calgary
I get that he does not have to sign the qualifying offer, what I don't get is a if he wants a shot at the nhl he needs to simply be BETTER to win a position regardless of where he plays. As a RFA the team controls the situation and if he was going to be that way it makes it even a better trade.
