Unless we are getting Weber and Suter on the blueline that's not even close to cap compliant. God I miss Capgeek.

So the plan is for the Flames to make absolutely no trades or signings between now and next year except dump current pending UFA's?

Agree with this. Like this move.
Might seem like a small move, but this is how an organization gets even stronger/better - the smaller positive moves add up over time...Well played, Treliving and crew.

Maybe this was just the day Treliving found the number to the league fax machine he misplaced a week ago and he got the backed up transactions fired off.

I'm really not surprised you son't understand since you refer to both players as "dufus". Shore will be called up sooner rather than later, waiving McGrattan will allow the Flames to demote McGrattan and recall Shore.

Plus it allows the Flames to be able to sit another player without exposing them to waivers. Frees up a spot on the big club.

Eventually we are going to see Drew Shore (from reading Treliving's comment) someday. I just hope they give plenty of time to learn the Flames system in Adirondack first then call him up. There is no rush to bring him up right now.

Does anyone know if shore would have to clear waivers if the flames wanted to send him down after playing for the big club?

Yes, if he plays one more NHL game, he loses his waiver exemption status.

yes according to Treliving and Tallon, if Shore plays one more NHL game he would have to clear waivers to be sent to the AHL

Was Tallon trying to call a mulligan on trading Knight in the first place?

I doubt it. Knight wasn't going to sign so his hands were tied

Well iirc Knight didn't want to sign with Florida after College.
All I can picture is Tallon blasting Blondie's one way or another.

No, Tallon is being smart by getting an asset for a player he could lose for nothing due to waivers.
Great trade for the Flames though....I have always been a big fan of Drew Shore.

I have a feeling Shore's going to play one game for the baby Flames and get called up when Huska and Pascal are so impressed they tell Treliving that he has no business being on the farm.

Quentin is a pick the Senators.

Corban asked for a trade out of Florida because he felt buried by the depth at center in Florida. He was stoked to get a chance in Calgary and play in front of his friends, family etc. Since the trade things have pretty much gone the same as they were in Florida and he is/was in the exact same position in Calgary, (being buried by depth at center by the likes of Monohan, Jooris, Colborne, and potentially Bennett) so he wasn't really happy lately either. This may be a blessing as his intention was to go to the KHL, so I suspect that might occur in Florida anyways.
If any mod wants to verify how I know all this, I'd be happy to oblige.

Treliving seemed pretty sure that Shore would not clear waivers, which means once he's up with the Flames, he wouldn't likely place him on waivers, so I guess a spot on the big club is really his to lose.
Unfortunate that Shore's self assessment is that he's better at centre and hasn't played much on RW because he'd fill a need there if he could, but it sounds like he's better suited as a centre which the Flames are actually pretty deep in.
Centre prospect for a more NHL-ready centre prospect.

Bouma or Stajan? Byron?

I would not trade Bouma. He is one of the only gritty players that the Flames possess.
