Anyone that thinks 72 virgins would be a good time is an idiot. Who wants to teach everyone how to achieve competency in sexual skills in an invisible, magical sky place for the rest of existence? That sounds like a lot of work. I'll take 72 MILFs, please. They would at least have the basics down.

Tragically, this is also overshadowing the complete and utter massacre by Boko Haram in Baga, Nigeria. They wiped out almost 2000 people in an assault on a Nigerian town in the last 24 hours. That's more than some wars. Truly disgusting and on as low as a level as AQ and Daesh.

On a positive note (if there can be one), the Canadian government stopped two brothers (twins apparently) today from leaving Ottawa and Montreal to fight for terrorist groups overseas. This is exactly what needs to happen now, as home-grown radicalization is proving to be a bigger and bigger threat in the Western world.

Personally I would have prefered that they let them go, and then not let them back in when they choose to return.

Have customs mark them with a microchip on the way out so a CF-18 can drop munitions on their positions.

I've said that if there was a place to put special forces troops its there. Boko Haram represent the worst scum that there is.

They need to be sent to the after life.

If there was an argument for a strong UN mission with military applications its there.

The reason these idiots do what they do is because they believe in an afterlife.

They need to be detained, charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and face a trial. They willing planned to break international laws. They should be face trial. If I conspire to commit unlawful acts I would be detained ,investigated and may face criminal charges. To keep them in the country without major restraints is reckless.

The shooters in france in this case were French Nationals . They even had a history with police and this did not stop them from a horrid act of Violence.

Keeping people in a country with out legal action when It has already been determined the are a threat on an international level of law is very short sighted.

Don't you think that this only infuriates the men detained further? Not only are they posses off at who the wanted to fight against now in their own heads there mad at their own government that kept them from fighting.

I've always wondered what the effect would be if we announced all our bullets were greased up with pig fat, yes you can die for Allah but you'll be unclean for an eternity, no virgins for you.

Not sure if it's theologically sound though.

What really grinds my gears about radicalized fighters is Quoting the Qur'an that this is the will of Allah.

It even states right in the Qur'an even if Allah is defamed violence shall not be the answer .

It bothers me just as much as when Christian and Jewish people of faith say we need to fight Islam in the name of god to protect people. Even tho the sixth commandment is thou shalt not kill.

There's also texts in each book staph to do just what they did. When the texts are that long, that filled with instruction and that contradictory, one can even use a text like that to say God hates homosexuals

Spot on. That's why I always laugh when there's the inevitable "excerpt battle" in the Herald opinion page where someone will quote the Quran where it says not to kill, and then someone will respond with a quote that says yes, absolutely kill. Same thing happens with the Bible.
The key is why should we rely on thousand year old loosely translated desert scribblings for anything at all, ever.

In a 1000 years someone will claim we could resurrect our dead pets if we buried them in the right place.

All because someone found an ancient book.

As a disclaimer, I'm not anti-Islam. I have Muslim friends who are just as horrified as I am with what's going on in France & Nigeria, and I honestly feel for them because they are moderate, great people. I think when some weaker minded people follow any ideology, you're bound to have extremism. I'm not saying religion is evil, I'm just saying that it had the ability to produce some pretty ####ed up people.

Anyone who thinks U.S. foreign policy in the ME, especially during the neocon presidencies, had nothing to do with religion and Christianity is deluding themselves.

The French are very big on the revenge game. They won't hesitate in going after them. And the French really aren't into the niceties of the whole rules of war.
