Wow read a few tweets from San Antonio Rampage season ticket holders, they are pissed.
They believe they traded the Rampage's best player for a 3rd line center.

How is this a bad omen for Backlund?

I feel like everyone misunderstood what I was saying. I meant that Knight and Stajan's playing styles are similar and they both do everything decently, but not great. Stajan is no doubt the better player, but it was just a comparable.

In terms of value it's a good trade but... not sure how a guy like Shore is our biggest priority when there's buried defensemen out there.
To me it's a bit like if we acquired another offensive defenseman with puck moving abilities but a little soft and tendency for mistakes.

Priority is irrelevant here. Not sure why he can't try to do both

So you pass on a deal to improve your team because it doesn't address a completely unrelated need?

Shore is NHL ready to play 15 minutes a night 3rd line. Centre or right wing.
Huge upgrade on Knight in terms of potential.

I don't get this from Florida's point of view? I understand why they would feel the need to move Shore, I don't get why they would take Knight?
Based on what people are saying and the rumours, could they not have got more or somebody in a similar spot as Shore but playing a different position?
Kind of seems like they just gave him away to the flames.

I look at our NHL centre depth and the fact he has 2 games before he needs to clear waivers and I question this trade, yes.

Looks like Billy Arnold got hurt tonight, so we might be seeing that Baertschi-Shore-Poirer line after all.

It makes us stronger and prevents us from doing absolutely nothing. What is there to question?

Did you ever take a look at our RH Center depth and our RW depth?
There is some benefit to having a right handed Center on the roster.

One that is closer to being NHL ready than the other at least.

I like Corban Knight but I didn't feel he is going to make it in Calgary full-time unfortunately so we will probably just lose him for nothing in a few years. I never heard of Drew Shore before until tonight so I am not going to pretend that I think he is much better than Knight. Based on what I heard though, he's got more upside than Knight and he already played with Colborne before. He is big 6'3" and looks like he can skate so that is a big plus. 11th in scoring in AHL which is good too. The only bad part is when they call him up, he'll be in Calgary pretty much for good as he has to clear the waiver if they sent him down to Adirondack. For a young RH big centre, I am sure someone will gamble on him so we'll lose him for nothing. I think the Flames will make him play in Adirondack for at least 10 or more games before they consider calling him up.

From what I've seen in the ADK games I've watched, Arnold is playing a relatively similar style to Knight. Plus he's been getting much better since the start of the season, and he's younger.
Really liked Knight as a person, but this is a good trade for the Flames. Maybe a 3rd line right winger of the future.

I think its the opposite. 2 more nhl games and he has to pass waivers every time he goes up or down. So he probably doesn't come up until he's in Calgary to stay, likely won't get a quick look.
