Icon30 Flames vs. Panthers, 7 pm, SN1

Hey everyone, I am at a seminar all weekend and I don't have time to even do a half-assed thread. I'm counting on everyone to fill in the gaps today. So sorry, I'll be back to normal on Monday.

It makes me sad because I have a lot of insight on the Panthers that I could share too. Bjugstad is going to be a very good player some day.

Go Flames Go!!!

Good game by the panthers last night but I think they'll be tired tonight. With Hudler back in the lineup, Johnny is going to be back to himself and I think he'll make Ekblad look bad tonight.

5-2 Flames, Johnny with a hatty.

Very hopeful that the Flames will take advantage of the gift they received yesterday on the OOT scoreboard. Perfect chance tonight to get back into a wildcard spot and a win tomorrow could get them back into 3rd in the Pacific.

In an attempt to assist Cali Flames Fan who has done such a great job on these threads, I submit the following, originally posted on RoughingAfterTheWhistle.com -

The team they threw rats at

The once toothless Florida Pantless became THE Florida Panthers during their Glory Year. A year when a team full of grinders like Brian Skrudland and Pieface Lowery and a young Rhettzky Warrener made an improbable Cup run. Led by coach Doug McLean, holding the last job he would ever be qualified for, it rained plastic rats on them on the ice after Mellanby scored the immortal Rat trick in the dressing room. Stuff of Legend

From that point on the franchise has sunk to the bottom of the standings and bumped along there ever since. Always picking second or third when a stud was at number one. Getting good but not great players. They somehow let their own state rivals swoop in and get Stamkos. They even tried a vet dump, when Talon cleaned house and went and bought a new set of vets, older, more expensive, and some still there getting big bucks for little back.

Yet even a blind man hits the urinal once in a while and they have managed to accumulate a whole bunch of really good young guys. All they needed was a goalie. Enter the new Bobby-Lou, refreshed from a narrow escape from purgatory, and suddenly they are a team competing for a spot in the East.

Last night the king of Twitter-sling had his triumphant return to fish land and his young team brought it all to get thier man a victory. So hopefully they burned a lot of emotion and energy and will come with Inagoal Montoya and tired legs.

I think we are all looking forward to seeing Mono and Backs in their new centre spots. The team needs this win tonight and ....yada yada yada.

Just do it Boyz!

Go Flames GO!
(swamp it Florida!)

Finally going to the Dome for the first time this year! So excited!

Looking forward to a steady performance - I predict a win where we never trail at any point. Jeez, that would be so weird!

Monahan on Hudreau's line is going to be pretty sweet to watch.

It's Canadian Armed Forces appreciation night tonight as well. http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=747761

This year Calgary’s namesake ship, Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship Calgary, will be honoured. The ceremonial puck drop will take place with Canadian Armed Forces Chief of the Defence Staff, General Tom Lawson, along with the Ship’s Captain Commander John Wilson, and Ordinary Seaman Alexander Hutchinson-Harris who is the youngest member of the crew. In addition, the national anthems will be performed by Able Seaman Afton Forsberg from HMCS Nonsuch.
Once again, they will be selling Flames Military Caps with proceeds going to the "Support Our Troops" fund. They will not be sold at the Fan Attic afterwards, so you have to be at the game to get one. (Total bummer for those of us without tickets/can't go)

Two of my favourite teams, Panthers are good this year, we can't take them lightly.

Flames win it big 6-1 tonight.

I would love one of these hats.

If anyone on here is going, would you be willing to buy me one? Obviously I will pay you back. Please PM me if you are willing.

Also, GO FLAMES GO.

The lineup for the Panthers last night was (I think)

Huberdeau-Barkov-Boyes
Jokinen-Bjugstad-Hayes
Fleichmann-Bolland-Bergenheim
Kopecky-MacKenzie-Upshall

Since this is a Calder showcase, I hope Gaudreau dangles around Ekblad and turns him inside out on his way to a hat trick.
