Although there is a chance to see Ortio play with the back-to-back coming up, I can easily see Hiller playing Saturday against Vancouver as well (assuming he gets the start on Friday).

Nope. The Flames are in a playoff race and they will ride Hiller as far as he will go while Ramo is out. The only question in my mind is whether Ramo plays a game this weekend. But, coming off a four day break with another one next week, there is a decent chance Ortio merely collects an NHL paycheck for a couple weeks before returning to Addy.

I'm curious. Were you trying to make a point, or did you just feel the need to blindly parrot a slogan that many people here don't understand?

You don't think Ortio has earned an NHL start?

Perhaps the brown bag was unnecessary or I should of emphasized.
I'm referring to the fact that Hartley won't gift back-to-back starts to Hiller. If he doesn't earn the second start, then Ortio would be in next. Correct?
I would love to see Ortio get a start, even at the expense of an off game from Hiller.

Gotcha, thanks. Most people tend to throw that slogan out sarcastically because their personal view of what it should mean doesn't match how the team means it. It was therefore hard to tell what you were trying to say.
And in general, I agree with your argument, but this is a bit of a tough case given that game is in Vancouver, a team we have to beat but can't. Even if Hiller were to lose tomorrow, it might be tough to throw a kid into that situation for his first game.
OTOH, Hartley loves the 'into the frying pan' approach, so who knows?

That is a good point, although I do recall Ortio keeping us in a Van game last year so you never know. I'd say there's a good chance he plays if Hiller is sub-par, and a decent chance he plays if Hiller is average. We'll see what happens.

Oh, I get it.
Well, if we are going with history, it'd be best to slot Hiller against Florida and then Ortio with Vancouver. It really depends on how practice goes. I don't want to get Ortio too rusty, especially since we don't know how long Ramo could possibly be out for.

Looks like Orts is having a little trouble getting out. He's stuck in Chicago still.

Just chatted with #Flames Joni Ortio. He’s waiting at O’Hare in Chicago hoping to get out amidst the cold and the snow storm.

sounds like Ramo's injury is minor. Hope we see Ortio for a game though

I appreciate that Ortio is having an all-star season in the AHL, and is being groomed as a possible #1 of the future, but I'm not sure you throw him out there against Vancouver -- one of the teams we're fighting tooth and nail with for a playoff spot. He's still our third string goalie, and hasn't faced NHL calibre shooters since the preseason.
Sure, if he gets the start and plays well, Hartley looks like a genius. If not, it's potentially four points down the drain...

I didn't know Jooris got hurt.
Was this late in the game or some kind of a muscle pull?

It is being speculated that it is his wrist, which has been bothering him since before Christmas.
