I don't really have a ton of insight to add, but my looking at the stats, no one is running away with the points title right now.

It appears that Eichel has one of the best (if not the best) PPG right now with 27 points in 16 games.

Ryan Miller?
Not allot of note worthy winners, I know Matt Carle & Ryan Miller are the two most note worthy players in about 15 years before Gaudreau. I betting Johnny has already passed everyone else in NHL statistics that won the award this century.

If I remember correctly he had a bunch of votes from North Dakota fans. He may have won the initial vote, but was not a top 3 finalist for the award.
Drew Leblanc won in 2013 (Gaudreau was a top 3 finalist)
